Tottenham pulled a Tottenham. Too bad they will likely hold their top 4 spot

Well to be fair I've lost interest as well. 2nd place is just not finishing first / it's meaningless. Top four has value but that's done. Cup final is the only thing of interest left and that's just for bragging rights over Chelsea fans.
I'm already way more interested in the comings and goings over summer. But I expect results next year as I think one more transfer window should be sufficient to get the players in that they need to really be able to compete at the highest level.

I'm curious why players seems to let off at the tail end especially in a world cup year where placement on the national team is on the line.

Well I guess for some guys who are marginal picks for a WC roster there is a little to play for. But those rosters have to be pretty firmly decided by now. Man City being so far ahead has dropped the interest at the top I'm sure for many a player and fans. It's all about relegation now and next year.
As a Manchester United fan I'm finally thinking they are close. Need a good three or four player haul but it's doable unlike the past few seasons. That's exciting and mop up games are just well whatever. No wonder Jose can't get them excited until the Cup Final.

I don't think Spurs looked good or anything, but WBA actually played well for what they were doing. They limited Spurs to basically no chances and managed to get the late one. Darren Moore could pull off an incredible escape here, and it's kind of the main entertainment at this point because everything else s decided. And, maybe you noticed, WBA has knocked off a few of the top tier teams under Moore, so it has less to do with Tottenham and more to do with their surge.

top 4 race is still interesting after today's result. Liverpool are safe if they win their last game, Tottenham will probably need to win both of theirs to be absolutely sure. Chelsea need to win both of theirs anyway to have any chance.
Cardiff has gained promotion today. Fulham-Derby and Villa-Middlesbrough in the playoff.

And Liverpool I believe only need a draw. Well, we'll get in to the CL because we'll win it.
The relegation/promotion battle is far more interesting at this time of year.

no, you'll need a win if Spurs and Chelsea win their games.

No, no, we'll just win the Champions' League. Automatic Qualification. Seems simpler.

Liverpool doesn't do simpler, they do Liverpool. And obviously the most Liverpool thing is losing to Brighton, losing to Madrid, and then losing Salah because of it. That would be peak Liverpool.

So Southampton just beat Swansea 1-0 which relegates West Brom.
It leaves Swansea in dire straits. They need to win on the final day (currently on 33 points) and hope that Huddersfield and Southampton get no further points (currently on 36, with Huddersfield having two games left) Even then, it would go down to goal difference. Southampton have the better one there with -18 and are essentially safe but Huddersfield and Swansea are in close range (-29 and -27 respectively)
Edit: easier if I just post the table
16 Southampton 37 7 15 15 37 55 -18 36
17 Huddersfield 36 9 9 18 27 56 -29 36
18 Swansea 37 8 9 20 27 54 -27 33

great to see that Southampton has survived. I'm sure Liverpools scouting department will be happy, too.
Swansea-Stoke-West Brom is not a trio I envisioned going down ahead of the season, but I can't say I'll really miss those teams. Swansea made horrific squad choices and West Brom has always been kind of meh. Stoke at least has been a landing spot for a few Austrian players, so it's a shame that Bauer and Wimmer will go down.

Hey! We lost Zeljko Buvac! Our management team is depleted! Depleted I tell you!

Change is constant but for me Swansea and Stoke have always been lower division teams, not even Championship calibre. That said they both did impressive things on the field getting, and staying, up for quite a while. Huddersfield, Brighton, Burnley and Bournemouth are all also, for me lower div clubs. The strength of their playing squads are all OK at the current moment but eventually with the kind of crowds they can draw and their infrastructure, will head back down eventually when they lose their better players or sugar daddy.
Then again maybe I just need to accept its a new reality and with the TV money making attendance less important we'll see more Newcastle's Villa's Sheffield Wednesday and Leed's going and staying down. I hope not though. Watching a game at those small clubs pales in comparison to seeing 40k in voice at a proper premier league club. I'd like to see some of the bigger championship clubs coming back up soon, the league is worse off from an atmosphere perspective when you have one more away game at Bournemouth or Huddersfield every year vs a game at Villa Park, Hillsborough or Elland Road.
The Baggies have always seemed like a tweener PL/Championship club like Palace, Derby, Wolves, Middlesborough, Norwich etc. to me based on past performance. I think they might have touched the third tier once in their history.
Excited that Palace stayed up, crazy after losing 7 straight to start the year that they are in 11th now. Also am looking forward to the Championship playoffs, I think any of those 4 teams would be a good addition back to the PL.

No we need my Villa back up! Getting sick of having to watch all the games on my computer, would like to actually have them on TV again! Also then John Terry will be back in the Premier League!
