he is stating matter of factly that it wasnt a penalty and then insinuates constantly that Sutherland was getting even for...something....as well as trying to show up his counterpart, the referee who didnt call it.
Its an embarrassment of epic proportions dude...i cant believe he is being allowed to go down this road. Its a freaking horrendous precedent for any real professional in broadcasting to set. Bad calls/missed calls happen ALL the time, but somehow when it concerns the prima donnas in Vancouver, its a conspiracy.
just unbelievable.
I agree the conspiracy talk is ridiculous, but your post made it sound like he shouldn't be talking about what he's talking about. That's all everyone out here is talking about, from fans to all media. This is the story of the day and they can dissect the season as a whole another time.
it's hilarious how much weight is being put on the refs by the vancouver media rather than the craptastic offense, craptastic goaltending, and craptastic coaching/gm'ing as the root cause for the craptastic finish to the season.
It's all good, the longer the players and management keep blaming others for their problems the better. This is the culture in Vancouver, it's never MY fault, it's always someone else's fault, that's how it always has been, and how it always will be.
The longer fans and media keep giving the team a free pass, the better.
Join us in the desert Canucks and fans, there's lots of room here!

There's just one problem with keeping Luongo over Schnieder, which I agree is the right move. But would Luongo want to stay in Vancouver for the rest of his career? The fans have treated him like garbage the last few years, and have blamed him for much of their failures. Then this year the organization itself treated him very poorly, couldn't find him a trading partner, then wouldn't start him when he was the better option in net. He also obviously doesn't want to spend the rest of his career in Vancouver, and would much prefer a Florida or maybe a Tampa Bay.
So really is keeping Luongo even an option for them anymore, unless they somehow convince him that things might turn around for the team, and him personally.
No kidding, didn't really see Luongo with a devastated look on his face last night during the handshakes. He was almost having a good time, you could almost see a smile on his face when he met up with Boyle and Thornton. He's been unfairly blamed and made the scapegoat for 2010 and 2011, and this year had to endure a ridiculous situation. I'd be shocked if he didn't amp up his "trade me talk in the summer". He really needs to put the pressure on Gillis to trade him, he should be done being accommodating. It was the Canucks and their fans that wanted him gone, so make it happen.

As a person who lives in Vancouver you should understand that there is deep psychological issues in the Vancouver fanbase. They have a victim complex and feel that the refs are routinely out to rob them.
Sounds like a lot of the Flames fans here on CP. Either the refs or the networks
I don't understand this complaint about the discrepancy in power plays. Should they be be even because that's more fair for everyone? Perhaps it's just another way to not so subtly cry about biased officiating.

The penalty and result is the story of the game for fans out here. He's well aware the Canucks weren't going to win this series and the Sharks were the better team and there's major work that need to be done, but that gets set aside for a day while the ending of the game is analyzed.
Vancouver media is famous for this type of thing. With the help of Crawford and Burke, they blew the Moore hit on Naslund way out of proportion which induced dummy Bertuzzi to do the stupidest thing in his life.
They better hope that nothing happens to Sutherland, or the Team 1040 is in for a world of hurt.

I imagine Montreal morning radio was even crazier than in Vancouver today
hahaha yeah. Montreal takes the cake when it comes to the ridiculous. I mean, I didn't see the VPD lay any charges on Dustin Brown last year for destroying the Canucks at every turn.
I hate the Canucks and their fans because we have a bitter rivalry, but man Montreal is something special. We don't even realize it cause we are so far removed from them.

Ya, every city has teabaggers, but not every city has a Glenn Beck inciting them. It is EMBARASSING broadcasting, and if I ever hear Steinberg, Kerr, Maher or whomever rabbling on about such garbage, I will be the first to say it.

I really dont see what people are complaining about. Sedin hit the player a few feet from the boards in a vulnerable position that sent him flying into the boards head first. Thats the definition of boarding. Shoulder to shoulder or not doesn't really mean anything. If he had hit him from behind he would have been called for "hit from behind". This has been a penalty forever, its not new.

If the Canucks fire AV then I think the Flames should go after him, he has a proven track record in the NHL and is a way better coach than Hartley. Plus he has the extra motivation to stick it to his old team that hypothetically have fired him.
in Calgary it's more so the networks/broadcasters though
Really? Forget about first round playoff series, the Flames probably were robbed of the 2004 Stanley cup with no review on the Gelinas goal. To this date I don't recall legions of Flames fans going on about a conspiracy theory. The only conspiracy I can think of that may have some merit is the belief of gratuitous officiating the Wings recieve at home but fans of all teams complain about that.
