In somewhat shocking news, Air Canada has selected the Boeing 737 MAX series (800's and 900's) to replace its narrow body fleet of Airbus 319/320/321 aircraft.
Up until this morning the order was sounding like they were going to stick with Airbus and get their new NEO versions.

What is Boeing going to do with these aircraft they purchase from Air Canada?
Quote:
Air Canada continues to evaluate the potential replacement of its Embraer E190 fleet with more cost efficient, larger narrowbody aircraft that are better suited to its current and future network strategy. Consistent with this strategy, the agreement with Boeing provides for Boeing to purchase up to 20 of the 45 Embraer E190 aircraft currently in Air Canada's fleet.
I would assume the E190 is still an in demand aircraft with at least some operators.
They could even package them in as a larger deal for customers who want a smaller aircraft.

No rendering out from Boeing yet showing the 737 MAX in AC colours, but here is a rendering of the flight deck of the MAX series, incredibly similar in layout to the 787's that AC is also getting:
I wonder what the AC rampies think of the 737Max order.
Gone will be the days of container loading A32X and back to bulk loading I assume.

Want to see "mad piloting" skills? You should see the guys in the Hughes 500's working the "Heartland" powerline that they are currently hanging wire on in the Anthony Henday TUC.
Good weather, bad weather, total whiteout? Doesn't seem to matter to these guys...I shake my head.
Crazy...they're probably getting paid "lawyer money", so I understand why they fly in marginal WX.
But jeebus...Batsh*t crazy with the minimal clearances to structures that they are operating around. 5 M clearance would be a valid estimate...IOW?
DANGER CLOSE..
Day in and day out. I've spent a couple of hours watching these guys...
Huge Cajones...
