LOL The chocolate milk product placement is hilarious.
Someone please make a meme with Sven drinking chocolate milk on his way to the NHL.

To be fair the guy Aliu fought wasn't anywhere near a fighter.

Nevertheless, it's impressive that in game 1 of 72, he's still irritating enough to get two guys to take their helmets off to fight him in the same 2 second span.

I would hope the Flames are good enough that they don't need scrubs like Aliu on the big club.

What a pass by Sven on that goal, and the close-in deke was awesome.

Yup, good NHL teams never have 4th liners who add grit to a team. Ever.

They often don't have guys who were cut from their AHL team, sat in the AHL play-offs and have had repeated attitude issues.
Aliu was scratched by Ward in the play-offs last year. What is so crazy about saying that there likely are better players than a borderline AHL guy who has been identified by his own organization as having issues?
Anyways this is a Baertschi thread no real need to get in a debate about a meh guy who still has to work at staying on an AHL team.

You need to watch Ward's post-game from the Red vs. White scrimmage last week haha.

I'm with moon on this one. Would love Aliu to prove me wrong though. Just don't think it's too likely.
Edit: Go Sven! Kid is awesome.

I think it was a good move by Ward to put Walter up with Sven half way through the game. It's a good idea to have the best playmaker on the team with the best prospect on the team. As soon as he switched replaced Street with Walter, Sven got his goal.

Ha, the sun and the moon are aligned!
On the same topic, I agree with moon. I actually like what Aliu brings, but I don't see him being much of a savior, if even an NHLer. I think he's being overhyped a bit just for bringing a little enthusiasm in a season-ending meaningless game.
As for Sven, hard not to be excited about this kid!

Where is anyone doing anything remotely close to suggesting he'll be a saviour? Talk about an overstatement.
Some people hope he cracks the roster in a 4th line agitator role, something we've been lacking for a long time. It's not really like those are unrealistic expectations.
The guy is big and plays with an edge. He agitates and drops the gloves.
If anyone's excited it's because that's a like-able kind of player regardless of their minor role.
Moon craps all over just about any Flames prospect so that's par for the course, but you guys echoing him seem a tad redundant. I don't see anyone with unrealistic expectations for him considering the kind of player he is.

I agree with this. I am excited because we need a pest on this team. I know everyone sticks their nose in the air and complains about guys like Marchand and Ott but they are effective and it can't hurt to have a guy drawing penalties on the team.

I don't see it as a bad thing if Akim is a 4th line agitator. If he can play an effective grinder role as well get under people skins, then we're getting good value out of him. Any goals he pots is bonus.

Oh i have no problem with that either. It's just that moon made it out earlier like these kind of guys aren't valuable to a team. Besides this thread isn't even about him.

I never said anything like that at all.
And LOL at Captain Obvious and his same old made up BS.
Hopefully Sven can keep his strong play going.
The lockout and time in the AHL was a real benefit to a lot of prospects last time so hopefully Sven can use this like guys like Staal, Getzlaf and Perry did and develop into a top line guy.
