Boston's Winger Prospects:
It would be nice to see the Flames acquire one of these Bruin prospects for Russell...

We don't need any more small forwards. Koko would find himself in a similar situation to Granlund. If I'm Treliving, I'm really only looking for bigger RWers, whether they are prospects or roster players. Obviously I would be open to acquiring a small guy for a small price, but I doubt that will happen.

Khokhlachev is waiver eligible next season. If he doesn't stick with the team he has to go on waivers.
Seems like the perfect target for Jim Benning.

He is best suited on the wing, but he's not anything like, say, a Brandon Pirri or Sven Baertschi. Khokhlachev has no problem at all getting his finger nails dirty in the offensive zone. He's pretty fearless despite his size.
It's his defensive zone coverage that's lacking, but let's face it, if that's the only project to work on with this kid, he'd easily be worth the exchange for a draft pick or Kris Russell.

gary lawless @garylawless
Add #nhljets, Devils, Coyotes, Canucks to teams asking @FlaPanthers about Pirri. RFA with arb rights. Not a rental, not limited to PO teams

People's fascination with khokhlachev is befuddling. He's not some super prospect waiting in the wings.
He doesn't fit an organizational need. I just don't see him as anything worth targeting.

Why do we want Khokhlachev? Is he going to play ahead of Monahan, Bennett, Backlund? No. He is too small to play wing for us, so what do we do with him? I guess if you get him really cheap (for the equivalent of a 4th or as a throw-in), you can take a flyer...

This tells me real negotiations are underway instead of Dean Lombardi telling people the price is too high.

If Treliving can convince Sweeney that Koko has holes in his game and will have to pass through waivers next season, and that the Flames are taking on all the risk , I can't see why the Flames couldn't get a 2nd from Boston.
I do think Koko and a 2nd (or 3rd) is reasonable for Russell, but I'm not a GM and don't really know the market. Just basing it off moves from the last few days.
EDIT - For the record, I'm only talking about Khokhlachev because Boston has expressed interest in Russell and I see him as a possible return. We can't expect the world for Russell and Koko is far from the world. I just think it's a reasonable exchange for a third-pairing pending UFA.

If I were to guess, I would guess Russell to BOS for that 2016 SJ first rounder.

Just to add, we wanted Khokhlachev when we traded Iginla because we had no C's beyond Backlund and Stajan. That was also the reason for the ROR almost-disaster and the Richards almost-disaster just before. Since then we've drafted Monahan and Bennett, and Khokhlachev is still in the AHL.

Joe Smith @TBTimes_JSmith
#Flames, #Canucks, #Isles, #Habs and #Hurricanes slated to have reps at tonight's #tblightning game in Boston.
Probably means nothing as the Flames play Boston on Tuesday.

2015/2016 Trade Speculation and Rumors v2
I've been wondering. Would it be so crazy and unthinkable to shop Gio? NTC will kick in, declining game, negative goal against rel. this year.
Big contract still hasn't started. What purpose is that to us?

Are we really talking about Koko from Boston? We just got rid of the same player in Markus Granlund, why on earth would we want him? We need guys with size.

Anything would be a good return if they didn't plan on re-signing him again. 4th is probably fair, 5th at the very least.
