I found it about as funny as Napoleon Dynamite. And that movie was not funny in the least.

Agreed!
It was brutal! I walked out near the end. What a waste of money!

I kind of agree, Borat had a couple of good moments but overall, waste of time.
I have a similar opinion of Office space, that movie was dull dull dull, I chuckled maybe twice. And yeah, I do get "cubicle dwellers" jokes, I love Dilbert and original Office TV show (UK version). However, this movie was just painfully unfunny IMO.

I think it's one of those movies that you are more likely to find funny if you've had two chicks at the same time.

I think the thing movies like Borat and Napoleon Dynamite have in common is that they become these momentous pop culture events that for a time have a heavily-engrained meaning but eventually fade off and disappear and become completely irrelevant. I guess fad is a good one-word term. I remember the experience of seeing both of these films in packed auditoriums and roaring with laughter along with everyone else... and then later, watching the same movie again on DVD after the hysteria had blown over and just scratching my head.
Now, years after the initial release of both - what relevancy do either have any longer? You still hear the occasional Borat reference ("very nice!") here and there but suffice it to say I feel that Sasha Cohen's finest hour has come and gone and I have my doubts that aside from people who heckle him for sport the guy who played Napoleon is likely fairly comfortable walking the streets and not being accosted like he probably was at the height of that movie's popularity.
I think the Simpsons did a marvellous job of addressing this whole phenomenon in that episode where Bart gets famous (the episode is actually called, IIRC, "Bart Gets Famous") with his "I didn't do it" catch phrase. There really is no science to how these things work... they just... catch on for a while... and then they're gone, and it's like it never happened, and even the people these things happen to just move on and don't really care.

Napoleon sucked out loud. I enjoyed Borat, when the kids rush the ice cream truck and the bear scares them off I laughed like a hyena. Didn't see it in the threatres, but still thought it was worth watching. Some parts were kinda dumb, but the rest was gold. Singing the Kazak national anthem to the tune of the Star Spangled Banner? Brilliant. But I also think Anchorman is one of the funniest movies ever.

I sat through about five minutes of Borat and turned it off, just not my humour at all. I don't like it.
Napoleon, watched it and thought there were some funny parts, but overall wasn't too impressed.

just a small bump to say that I recently bought this on blu ray, and watched it for the first time last night
pretty solid film, though a little predictable for the plot twist
very tempted to pick up the rest of the "vengeance trilogy" but it doesnt look like the other two films are available on blu ray yet

Stephen Spielberg is remaking this one with Will Smith as the lead.
Not sure Will Smith is insane enough!
