Conroy can get the details of the offer from the other GM and present it to Andersson's agent. At the same time, Conroy probably has a good grasp on what Andersson will or will not accept (if he doesn't know, he can ask) and then Conroy can present that back to the other GM.
How many variables do they need to figure out? Term, Salary (how much is bonuses versus salary), NTC conditions.... Conroy can negotiate that easily to get the value he wants out of the trade.
If the other GM and Andersson agrees on the extension details then they draft up the paperwork for both the trade and the extension, everyone signs and the deals are done simultaneously. Sign and trade.
There is really no reason or upside for Conroy to step out of the way and allow the other GM to talk to Andersson's agent directly and thus far the evidence shows that it hurts the process for Conroy to allow that.
|
It just slows things down to add a third party to a negotiation and if the trade is agreed to beforehand then it doesn’t add much. If the other team agrees to a deal basis an extension and then side steps the agreed upon deal then they don’t get Andersson.

Really hope we don't deal with VGK.
They have the least interesting assets and us bolstering them, just makes one of our 1sts this year weaker. Plus #### that team getting all the toys.
Feels like we're probably dealing Rasmus as a rental. Can't really see him committing to LAK or the Wings at this time.
Wings obviously have the best assets. A LAK 1st though is a very interesting piece though. Something like Greentree + LAK 1st would be a nice get.

Some insight into a comparable for Kadri (would say Kadri > Schenn on ice, Schenn > Kadri on contract terms/age cliff - but that correlates to the Kadri > Schenn on ice).
Effectively two 1st round picks + something else.
|
Too if the Leafs are/were willing or considering that package for Schenn I'm sure something could be worked out around Kadri who I'd imagine they covet more than Schenn. Both are cup winners but Kadri obviously has history with the Leafs and currently has just 1 less goal than Schenn but has 15 more assists and would likely impact their roster in a bigger way.

Need some resolution on Andersson so we can focus on the other two. Conroy must have a busy phone line my goodness. The chase episode after all the could be fun

Big question for me on Schenn vs Kadri would be salary retention. He makes less and has less years left which I would think the Blues would be more likely to retain salary to get that package.

Yeah, he's got a lot of good traits too though. We're probably not getting a flawless prospect in a Rasmus deal.
He's a big kid with alot of skill that scores alot.
I saw a comparable to Jason Robertson. That's a heck of a ceiling.
Plus he's only 20, let Fujita work her magic for a couple years and I'm sure he can get it up to NHL standards.

I really hope Ras gets traded this week. Just so we can all move on to fighting about the actual return and not what we think it will be.

If Rasmus doesn't want to extend where trade. Ok. Just get best deal possible that notes a provision that if traded team extends him after the fact - there is additional compensation.

That will never happen. Here's what will happen:
- The moar crowd: "That's it? Why didn't we trade him last year? Or the year before that? Maybe we should've traded him when he was rookie for Cale Makar's grandson. Both of them."
- The mushy middle: "Where's my blue chip prospect that no team will ever give up? CC should be fired."
- The contradiction: "If that's all he got, we should have given him the $9x8. Mostly so I can whine about how much we gave him."
In short, winning a Stanley Cup is super easy because I did it on NHL 26 on my PS5.

Taking a while to get to 5000

Not that anything happens tonight, but just a reminder of last year when Pelletier & Kuzmenko practiced the morning of being dealt and were pulled out of pre game skate.
Anything can happen at any time.
