No interest in Buchnevich honestly, he doesn’t really fit our needs.
28/LW/LHS and our left side is beyond congested.

Need to get younger and need center depth.

You would only take Buchnevich if it led to Neighbors. It's totally unrealistic but that would be amazing

For both and retention on both??
I’d argue that’s not enough.

They’d have to include a D prospect imo.

Nah. That’s good value and something the Devils probably don’t do. Hanifin is probably a 1st plus an okay prospect and Markstrom is probably worth a 1st. I’d take Mercer over any 1st round pick.

Hanifin and Markstrom would easily command a 1st and a solid prospect on their own accord… it’s already been talked about by all the hockey brains.

If you’re grouping them together.. then the deal better be RICH.

I mean if that's the best overall and preferable package they can wrangle up at the deadline, then sure.

I don't think that'd be the best return come deadl8ne. But it really depends on what Conroy feels fits their needs most.

I don’t think he’ll get much more than that if he is traded as a rental and it feels like that is where it is headed. Maybe he gets a good prospect if there are a few teams tossing in.

Not really pertaining to any particular trade or potential trade from the flames but just a thought with the whole of trading picks/players in the NHL. Something you rarely, if ever, see in the NHL is a GM play the seasonality of the markets as part of a rebuild/retool. For example, at this time of year draft picks are at their lowest value relative to players. Playoff teams and contenders are willing to trade 1st and 2nd round picks for rental players. Everything flips once the Stanley cup is handed out… picks are at their highest value going into the draft. Teams will give roster players away for cents on the dollar to get more picks in the draft at that point.

Would be different to see a GM trade players for picks at the TDL and then flip those picks going into the draft for young roster players entering their prime. Not saying it’s that easy and I know myself as a fan is excited to see my team make picks in the draft at that time of year. Just when you think about it, a move like that would be the perfect example of selling high and buying low. Could be an alternative model for a retool rather than a rebuild.

Again, not saying that’s what I want the flames to do. Just interesting that you don’t really see any GMs trying to pull that off.

Truth be told, to establish himself as a shrewd negotiator, Conroy could easily give the finger to any of these teams and wait until the off-season to prove a point that he'll only accept what he believes is right. If these guys are still thumbing their nose to him, and he believes the value should be higher, he should lead them on until the end to leave them with their dicks hanging out and no goaltender into the playoffs.

To me no matter what you think of Wolf and how great he may be, his size is a concern and I wouldn't want to throw him in the deep end right away. Almost any goaltender for that matter. I'm all in for the value in dealing Markstrom, but I'd want a competent goaltender for at least a season or two to split time with Wolf. Raanta or Quick would be my choices until Wolf establishes himself. The nice thing is Raanta has a similar stature so could relate to him more.

That’s what Vladar is for. Let him get carry the starts next year.
