Wiebe is having himself a very productive month. It gets even more impressive when you remember that he's a defenseman.

At first glance (including myself), almost half voted break-even. At the time Whitecloud felt like a throw in along with Wiebe. But, I think with the way those two have been playing (and we're not even talking about the 1st rounder we received), I would say it's very much a modest win and on the trajectory of a home run depending on Whitecloud's return/extension (whichever we roll with) and if Wiebe turns into something.

I was a break even voter and I'll happily admit my ignorance of Whitecloud.
Wiebe is a nice bonus as well.

If the Flames sign Wiebe, expect him to get at least one NHL game in (burning a year off of his ELC) as an incentive.

I don't mind admitting that I thought Wiebe was a total toss in. Seems like there could be more there.

Vegas wanted to sign him right? So even if he's clearly not an A prospect, they still saw something there.

And that extra first, although unlikely will be fun to cheer for IMO

When Whitecloud was first traded I looked at the line pairings in Vegas as he wasn't a household name to me. Most of the time he was playing with Hanafin, who is no slouch and playing on a competitive team. That gave me a sense he wasn't just a throw in but was mostly playing top 4 minutes.
Excellent trade! Good job Connie

I'm kinda shocked it hasn't crystallised already. My only guess is the Andersson camp pushing for a few more pesos, as you've gotta think a framework for a deal was in place. And to be fair he barely settled in fabulous Nevada before flying out to Milan.
I'd still be shocked if he actually goes to market, considering he turned down over 60 million in one of the better cities in the US.

I liked Whitecloud, but I thought the deal was basically a break even type situation at best. I didn't think it was a "good" return by any stretch. I guess it depends on how you define good. I always think of good as exceeding what break even is.
It took Whitecloud 47 games to get 7 points with vegas and he has 4 in 9 with the Flames.
I'll be very happy to be wrong though.
