I'm not sure it matters who plays them at this point. Clearly there's a different standard of officiating when it comes to the Oilers, so unless the rest of these teams can find a way to stay out of the box, it's looking more and more likely that Edmonton is simply gonna PP their way to the finals and possibly the Cup.

Whatever success the Oilers end up having this year will forever have an asterisk beside it IMO, since it completely relies on 2 players and constant PPs. Championships are won as a team, but that's not what we're seeing with this bulls*** Oiler team.

Not sure how we can complain when the Knights got 3 powerplays.

Don't know how the Knights are going to stay out of the box. I've also never seen anything like the Oilers PP. It's the most guaranteed thing in sports. Unreal.

Vegas is afraid to go out and challenge the Mctwits on the PK. So, they get hemmed into a 10ft square.

I wonder if the Hockey Night crew will have a look critically ever at the team instead of just lauding their PP skills and record.

I only watched a few minutes so not commenting on this game per se, but I guess may be the general point could be that even if the penatly calls end up more or less even- a game with -say- 4 total PPs favors Vegas, and 15 total PPs favors edmonton?

It's not about "number of power plays", it's about legitimacy of calls. Did you see the second penalty call against Vegas? Did you think that was a remotely good call?

Exactly. It's also the timing of the calls. Like all these PPs early in the game which gives the Oilers an immediate boost and puts the opposing team on their heels and down a goal or two right off the hop so that they're constantly playing from behind.

You're also seeing a lot of timely game/series management calls whenever the Oilers are either down a goal, down in the series, or getting dummied 5 on 5.

Foregone conclusion that I’m going on an early June vacation… somewhere far away from ice and near a beach so I won’t have to hear about how 6 guys on the ice won the oilers the cup (mcdump, drysaddle, 2linesmen and 2 refs)

He forgot to put his arm up to make the call. He is one of the most pro-Oiler refs in the league.
