I believe this is what we call an extreme homer alert. Chiefs beat the Raiders twice easily with Carr, the Steelers would score at least 38 against the Raiders, and forgive me but there's a 0% chance McGloin is dropping 38. The Texans have an elite defense so that will be a 17-13 game no matter what, but probably a toss-up leaning slightly to Houston because of the D. Dolphins-Raiders would be a tossup too, but the Dolphins are full of confidence right now and the Raiders just watched their SB dreams die a few days ago so I'd probably lean Dolphins there too. Sorry, the Raiders are a team that has won so many games this year with Carr leading comebacks more than dominating teams. And now he's gone. McGloin scares no one, unlike Carr.

The memory bank is for dirty stuff. If you can't stop the offense that's on you, no matter what the score is or what the play call is.

Yeah it was the 2000 season. The Texas didn't exist and Seattle was still in the AFC West. New England went 5-11 that year.
Denver has had a pretty good run here save the McDaniels debacle. As beat up as Manning was last year, he still brought leadership. I don't think there was going to be a divide with the defence with his aura around. I think the defence finally broke a bit last night. The previous 3 games were all tough on them.
I can see why defenders were annoyed in the moment. On one hand Denver''s season is on the line they can't give up. But the Chiefs can't let them off the hook, and it's a live audition to try a gimmick play. A team like the Chiefs will need a couple if they go more than one playoff game.

Pittsburgh got picked apart by Flacco at home.....how is Big Ben going to outscore the Pats? Just dont see it unless there are turnovers and mistakes from NE.
I think the only team that has a chance against the Pats is the Chiefs. That is a complete team and they should be able to hold Brady and company to a point total that (on a good day) Alex Smith can reach.

It's not like it was a fake punt or a flea flicker up five touchdowns. The only part of Denver that should be humiliated by that was their offense, that play was only 3 yards shorter than Denver's only TD drive of the night. Offense let the defense down all year, defense did it's job.

Flacco threw for 262 yards and a single touchdown. "Picking Pittsburgh apart" might be a bit of an exaggeration here ^^

One question. Have you seen McGloin start? He's not as good as Carr but he can play and he's going to have one of the best offensive lines to play behind as well as a lot of offensive weapons. He's spent two seasons in the Musgrave offense and knows it well so it's not like he's some rookie. The reason the Chiefs have owned the Raiders is because they own Carr. He's played his worst football by far in the past two years against them so really McGloin would only have to be average and the Raiders can beat them. Not worried about the Steelers in the least as the Raiders were the team that took care of the Ravens in Baltimore early in the season when the Ravens were 3-0 and the Raiders have always played the Steelers well even when they were terrible as they have beaten the Steelers with starting QB's such as Russell, Pryor, and Gradkowski and McGloin is better than all of them. Raiders already beat the Texans relatively easily. Patriots are really the only team that I don't think the Raiders can beat with McGloin starting.

Defense was horrible last night. They gave up more offensive yards in the first quarter than they usually give up all game. Clearly there is issues in that locker room as the defense was not inspired at all.

I have seen McGloin start, I remember the Thanksgiving game they lost to the Cowboys. The Raiders have seen him play too. That's why they drafted Carr the draft after McGloin's rookie year, and why they drafted Connor Cook in the 4th round this year (which I'm sure we all now know was exactly one spot ahead of Dak). McGloin's rookie deal is up this year and they obviously weren't bringing him back after drafting Cook. So yeah, a guy with more career turnovers than touchdowns is a backup QB for a reason. This is where if the Raiders were dominating teams it wouldn't be as much a concern, you could go conservative backup QB offense and hope the team does the job. But when you need lots of fourth quarter comebacks, thats when you need an elite QB. Carr is close to that, McGloin is going to be a UFA in 3 months, likely heading to a new backup role.
And "relatively easily" has to be the most bizarre way to describe a win in which the Raiders were down a touchdown with 10 minutes left in the game to the Brock Osweiler Houston Texans (remember the laser pointer?). Or having those Texans inside the 20 with less than 6 minutes to go, bypassing a go-ahead FG and getting a crap spot on a fourth down when they clearly got the first down? Can't imagine which adjectives you'd use to describe yesterday's New England-New York Jets game. A relative genocide?

Ha ha ha. The defense has actually played decent in the 2nd half of the season and the Raiders lead the league in turnover differential. The offense was limited once Carr broke his finger playing every snap out of the shotgun do at least they can now run a conventional offense. IMO the AFC playoff teams outside of the Pats and Chiefs are mediocre so if the Raiders face any of them including the Steelers in Oakland I expect a win with McGloin starting. After that it's probably too much to ask.

So next Sunday night's game will be the division, but it now could be for the playoffs. Redskins win would mean unless there's a tie in the Sunday night game, they are in. I think a tie in the Sunday night game leaves the Redskins out.

The Cowboys are so fun to watch.
Now rest the starters, get Romo some playing time and get ready for the playoffs.

Every completed pass by Prescott reminds me that he was who Denver had targeted before they traded up to get the lanky pirate. No one could predict he'd start so well but uuuuugh.

The Jets, Texans, 49ers, Rams, Browns....every QB needy team missed on him. Of course it is year one, RGIII reminds us year one means little (and Nick Foles too, though not as a rookie). Once they have film on you that's when we can tell the real QBs.

This weekend could not have gone better for the Falcons. Easily beat Carolina, Bucs lose, Hawks lose, Lions lose. Win against the Saints at home next week and the NFC two seed is locked up.

EE - your argument lost a lot of credibility when you said the Raiders beat the Texans relatively easily. You must not have watched that game and Carr was the reason for that comeback.
I guess you are a big Raiders fan but you are seeing this through Raider colored glasses. The only team less feared in the AFC playoff picture now is the Texans. Of course anything can still happen but as a Texans fan, I am praying for a Raiders first round matchup. That's the only game we could win.
