Yup they don't pay them not to watch games. Scouts visiting teams usually leads to nothing tradewise.
Just thought the Buffalo one was interesting because of all the speculation about the impending goalie trade.

Really? 1.9 million for a 1B goalie isn't a bad deal, but Ramo (and the whole team) didn't do Treliving any favors given last games performance.

Ortio stepping up and tapping into upside we all hope is there would sure be nice. Finding a back-up to pair him with would be a lot easier than trading for a starter for the next few seasons.

Further to this point, here are the pending UFA goalies for next July 1.
Cam Ward
Jonas Hiller
Karri Ramo
Niklas Backstrom
James Reimer
Ben Scrivens
Anton Khudobin
Alex Stalock
Chad Johnson
Jhonas Enroth
I'd rather re-sign Hiller than bring in anyone else on that list. You know what you get out of him, he's going to be cheap to bring back, and he's a good soldier. Even if Ortio is established as the guy by the end of the year, I think it would be unwise to let Hiller walk.

Where is Ward at value wise now that some more years have run out on his contract?
The contract used to be the anchor but he has, what, 2 years left now on his deal?
I suppose for Carolina there might be some value in lightening the dedicated salary burden for the coming years. Makes the team more attractive with less salary commitment.
Looking him up, he seems to put up Hiller-esque numbers yet plays for that awful Carolina team. Is his main trade detraction his salary or the mix of salary and ability?
When I watch Carolina games which is infrequently, Ward never stands out for me in positive ways.

He is UFA after this season as outlined by greenlantern2814's post.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
Doesn't sound as though Robin Lehner's MRI results were encouraging: More likely to miss 2+ months than 2+ weeks, tho no official word yet.

No pending UFA goalie is a better option for Buffalo than either of our guys. Depends which one they want. A season hangs in the balance, and it just became a seller's market.

Seeing as though Lehner is the Sabres long term number 1, a pending UFA is exactly what they would likely be looking for.

According to a source, the Hawks are actively seeking a defenseman via a trade.
The top four blue liners are set with Duncan Keith, Brent Seabrook, Niklas Hjalmarsson and Trevor Daley, but after that the experience and talent level drops considerably with David Rundblad, Trevor van Riemsdyk, Viktor Svedberg and the injured Michal Rozsival in the mix.

Rozsival hasn't retired yet? It seems like every year I assume he has, yet he continues to hang on, and even has another ring to show for it.

What are the Oilers doing with Scrivens? Bakersfield had two games this weekend and he didn't dress for either one.
You'd think they'd want to keep him active if they're trying to move him. Is he hurt?

They hurt his feels when they demoted him. Not dressing him is hurting his value. Not sure about an actual injury though.

Well, playing for the Oilers would hurt his value even more.

I've thought for some time Cam Ward would end up in Calgary. Ever since news of Treliving being close to acquiring him as a cap dump - I believe in Cam Ward. I think behind a good defense, he's a technically sound goalie that can thrive.
If not this season, then during free agency.
Early season prediction:
Flames swing a blockbuster deal that lands Ward and Skinner at some point this year.

I'd love to see Skinner coached by Hartley...I think he'd be amazing in Calgary.

Skinner's concussion history would worry me too much. With that kind of history a guy could be finished his career very abruptly.

You can't move Hiller unless you are damn sure that Ortio is ready to carry the workload because Ramo is too inconsistent. Do we chance that? And if we do I don't want a draft pick coming back. I would rather trade Hiller plus a young piece for a guy that can help us now. Something that makes sense cap wise too. Maybe Hiller+B prospect for Moulson.

Why would we want Cam Ward when we're trying to go down a goalie?
