This past Sunday I got the chance to see my first NFL game live in Cleveland.
Gotta say, after spending the weekend there, my admiration for the Browns and their fans gone up a fair bit.

Doesnt make alot of sense for me. ID rather stick with Hanie as someone who has worked under Martz's offense for the past 2 seasons instead of bringin in an old alum to run an offense he would be a far ways away from learning. Maybe tey sign him as an absolute emergency backup, but not a starting replacement

Reports that the Bears have put in a claim on Orton, hopefully in a backup role as there is no way he would be able to learn Martz's system.
I'm guessing KC might put in a claim as well if they want to stay serious about trying to win their division. I'm hoping Orton doesn't fall to the Bears.

Why? He wont cost them a thing beyond some salary and un-needed cap space this year...he is familiar with Lovie and lots of the remaining players and without question he is a better QB than hanie or Brunell at this point in their respective careers...he wont hurt anything moving forward and Martz or not, the Bears will live and die with the ground game moving forward with the opportunity to go deep based off that...something he also can do better than the remaining options.
To me, its a no-brainer if the Bears can grab him moving forward as they still have a really good shot at making the post season.

Did the same thing last year and Sanchez went on a tear afterwards. Ryan is just a superstitious guy.

Sorry, Brunnell is a Jet, I forgot to mention the team he is taking reps with.
Otherwise, I disagree. I think it would take Orton way too long to learn even a frtaction of Martz's offense and while Forte is basically accounting for 50% of the offense, a lot of his threat comes receiving out of the backfield.
One thing the Bears have been doing is making the pocket a little more mobile and even then Cutler usually has to leave it to give himself time and make plays on the run, something Orton really doesn't have the ability to do, he has poor mobility and is even worse throwing on the run. At this point the only thing I think he has on Hanie is experience. Hanie has a decent arm and much better mobility and as an added bonus, is much more familiar with the playbook.
I think this is Hanie's spot to lose for the next 6 weeks, and the only thing I'd like to see Orton do is back up Hanie as an emergency stop-gap. Even then I think someone like Marc Bulger could be a better option given his histroy with Martz

LOL..yeah i was confused as i wasnt aware that he had changed teams and wasnt even sure he was still around.
As for Hanie...i guess we will just agree to disagree, i dont think he is anywhere close to being as good as Orton.

Yeah Ortons a good QB, but he's fallen into the same trap as Garcia did in the NFL. He wins games, doesn't make too many mistakes, but he's always in a situation where he's easily replacable
He'll be an upgrade for either team

Perhaps, but for teams like the Texans or Bears...you already lost one QB, and who's your current backup QB? Even having Orton as a backup or third QB is worth it.

A couple years back when Arizona went East to Washington they got destroyed...that team eventually did go to the Superbowl. So although not a true West Coast team they faced long travel on a short week.
Granted there are teams from the West who've gone East and won Thursday night games before. But most of the time on short weeks a team who has to travel a time zone or two is at a pretty significant disadvantage. San Fran to Baltimore is a pretty long trip.

I don't necessarily disagree that they should go with Hanie, but Orton picked up McDaniels' offense extremely fast and it was easily as complex as Martz'.
Orton is also a much better QB that Bulger has ever been.
I think it makes a lot of sense even if they have him as a back up to Hanie.
I don't think he will make it to the Bears claim though.

I'll be brutally honest, Orton's problem is that he doesn't handle failure well. When things start going south, and they always do at some point for every offense, he does not have the ability to lead his team with fire and will. His body language is negative, his facial expressions are negative and his game starts to fall off.
He's great if you're ahead all of the time. He's not mentally tough though.

Much better? really? based on what? I would put Bulger a little bit ahead of Orton actually but neither is that good.

Harbaugh has been playing up the whole, "The schedule maker is screwing us" angle. The team was flying to Baltimore today and has a practice scheduled for tonight.
49ers are 4-0 in the east this year (Bengals, Eagles, Lions, Redskins) but the Ravens are going to be a tough team. Ravens have eaten 3-4 defences (like Steelers) alive this year.
I'm tired of all the "Har-bowl" talk, but the game itself looks on paper like it should be a good match up.

Chiefs claimed Orton off waivers. So ends the Palko era in KC.

Hey Res, is the Denver sports talk yapping as much about John Elway being a horrible manager as the Mad Dog Radio guys are? Because he won't show 100% support for Tebow and because he didn't jump around, smiling and cheering when Tebow ran the winning TD in last Thursday night?

Yeah, I called that one.
Orton will come in there and give them a chance on offense.
