A poignant way to end the opinion piece, one in which I think we can all agree:
I suspect that, from here on out, this topic will become more popular — and somewhat less respectable. A few years ago, UAPs were an issue on which a few people “in the know” could speculate, secure in the knowledge they weren’t going to receive much publicity or pushback. As the chatter increases, the issue will become more prominent, but at the same time a lot of smart observers will dismiss the whole thing because they heard that someone testified before Congress about seeing dead aliens.
I am well aware that many people may conclude that some US officials, or some parts of the US government, have gone absolutely crazy. But even under that dismissive interpretation, it is likely that there will be further surprises.

Just being the devils advocate here.....
It's hard to have discussions about anything where there is overreaching on what people have said. Nerves get frayed and harsh words are said. Can we not stick to what someone has said as opposed to looking for the bogeyman?

This is the worst thread I've ever seen, lol. Could be good, but just crazy levels of bickering and fighting. The thread did not require gatekeeping just because there's skeptics, and that was the breakdown, imo.
It never works in adult discussion to say "OMG, you guys don't believe this and it's annoying, this is a happy fun place and you're not welcome!!!".

Plus, the real fun in speculating the unknown is in simulation theory. Just fascinating stuff and honestly the more we move towards and understand quantum mechanics the more you start to wonder.
