I believe the player must go to your NHL roster if claimed off waivers.

I kind of see Druy18's point though. The Oilers are an AHL team.

I thought once claimed, you could re-assign them to an NHL team. The only thing waivers did was transfer rights/who pays the contract now so that team could then do as they wanted. Was that something abolished during the new CBA because I can remember that happening before. You claim the player off waivers, then assign them to the AHL team.

The Flames have a story up about Seiloff's recovery. Apparently the staph infection was from an ingrown hair. Recovery sounds like pure torture: http://flames.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=702668

Its pretty wild how this stuff happens my girlfriend had an allergy to the antibiotic sulfa and ended up with a blood infection that dropped her white cell count to two. It all worked out but was totally wild.

Do you know where in the CBA that's stated? I just read the entire waiver section of the CBA and I cannot find where that's stated. Granted not much in the CBA is straightforward about waivers.

What I can find is that if a player is picked up off of waivers, he may require to be put on waivers again to be sent to the AHL where he would be offered both to the original team and any additional teams that put in a claim, but if cleared, could be assigned to the AHL.

So he could be claimed by Edmonton, then put on waivers again to be assigned to OKC and would only need to be offered to Calgary who if they passed, would then clear and be sent to the AHL.

He would have to go through waivers again and be offered to every team.

The key point is that if Calgary was the only team to put in a claim, they could then send him to the AHL without putting him back on waivers. Unless they really wanted to get rid of the player, they would re-claim him. The Flames would certainly reclaim Jones if the Oilers tried this.

So, you're correct that the CBA doesn't specifically say a team must keep a player on their NHL roster, but the fact that the player's original team can reclaim him and send him down without additional waivers means that if you're going to put in a waiver claim, you're doing so with the intention of keeping the player in the NHL.

Quote:
13.22 When a Club claims a Player on Regular or Unconditional Waivers, and, subsequently, in the same season it requests Waivers on the same Player and the original owning Club is the successful and only Club making a Waiver claim, then the original owning Club shall be entitled to Loan such Player to a club in another league within thirty days without further Waivers being asked; provided that such Player has not participated in ten or more NHL Games (cumulative) and remained on an NHL roster more than thirty days (cumulative) following such successful claim.

This happened earlier this season with Alexander Urbom. He was waived by New Jersey and claimed by Washington on October 3. Then, on January 8, the Caps put him back on waivers and the Devils reclaimed him, and immediately sent him to the AHL.

As per the AHL Transaction Page, Blair Jones has been assigned to Abbotsford.

The Heat have signed Trevor Gillies to an AHL contract.

Two face punchers on the Heat now. Modelling their roster after the Flames'. Fun fact about Gillies: 3 games played for HIFK Helsinki this year, 54 PIMS.

He probably got 5 minutes for stepping on the ice and making the other team crap their pants.

I guess 25 minutes of those penalties was due to this:

Also, the Heat just went from one veteran (Arsene) to six (Arsene, O'Brien, Smith, Locke, B. Jones, Gillies) in the last couple of weeks.

MacDermid is very close to being a veteran himself as well.

Gilles is as dirty as it gets. Like when he hit Tangradi in the head, then jumped him, and then started yelling at him for being injured.

They should have just gotten Godard back he was the best!
