Nvm on the injury thing. I thought he suffered two big ones in junior for some reason.

Byram has had 3 concussions that we know about. Hard no. He’s one cheap shot away from getting a 2 bed 2 bath and rooming with Nolan Patrick.

Extra funny talking about injury concerns when he wants to get Byram

Byram is also a year older and was drafted three rounds ahead of Poirier, in completely different drafts. Byram was a 4th over pick in 2019 compared to Poirier at 72nd overall in 2020. Let's compare apples to zucchinis. Hey, at least you got their birth months right.

I would consider Bread and Vancouvers 1st for Byram. If you need a prospect thrown in, there are more than a few Agostino/Hanowski types that would be easy to swallow. Poirier would not be one of them

Byram would be an interesting supplemental piece but subjective opinion is that in some of the proposals seems like he's one of those players who is massively overrated due to his draft slot. Consideration of that should go out the window when a player is evaluated and would think pro scouts do that.
Any other 23 year old dman who puts up 13 points in 46 games, isn't great in his own end and has missed most of the last 3 season due to injury on a 4 million dollar a year ticket isn't bringing in a 3rd let alone a 1st.
I wouldn't be surprised if he's on a contending roster if a team walks away from his qualifying offer next season, he's got a make or break 12 months coming up.
I'm one of those who thinks the flames should never deal with the oilers in these circumstances unless you're throwing them an anchor, but Broberg is a way more valuable piece for me and I don't even think he's that amazing. At least he is durable and on a reasonable ticket.

Colorado has given up more goals than any Western team not in the bottom 4. And that's with their amazing defense and all-star goalie.

From what I’ve heard it’s not an extension with Calgary but only one source is providing me with this information. Multiple teams are very interested, Calgary up until this point wasn’t stoking the flames for a trade but according to the same source this may have changed late yesterday evening.
One name to follow is Andrew Mangiapane…

You and Darren Dreger saying the same thing, at the same time…just another example to show that you’re connected. Really appreciate your contributions.

Byrum is even more over-rated than Hanifin is under-rated on these boards. He might be the single most over-rated player on CP.

Yeah I wouldn’t be opposed to getting Byram as a piece, but for that price? Absolutely not, makes no sense for the Flames.

I know Colorado has some cap issues. The Landeskog situation makes it a bit murky as well, but with 2 players like Makar and McKinnon, I don't understand why Sakic isn't doing anything and everything to assemble the best lineup to support those two, year in and year out, until it is clear they are past their prime.
As we know all too well here in Calgary, it's not every day you have a center of that caliber and a defenseman of that caliber to build around. It seems like Sakic is wasting prime years of those players, surrounding them with guys like Lars Eller and the ghost of Zach Parise. It's so hard to win the cup, let alone build a mini dynasty. Sakic shouldn't have a top 90 draft pick left in the next 5 years because they should all be dealt away to be all in every year fir the cup.
This is why I'd make a bad GM.

The main reason you'd make a bad GM is you'd be wondering why Sakic wasn't answering your calls about trades.

I hope the Flames trade Tanev in the next few days and then Hanifin next.
It would be nice if the Flames go into trade deadline week with all the UFAs gone so they can focus their attention on Markstrom and Mangiapane if needed.
