Do people forget just how unpopular Hillary was? I can't see how Biden doesn't do better.

I'm going to use SCD's analogy from earlier. There are 1000 people shouting vitriol against Trump and are louder than the 5000 people whispering that things are ok.
To me, this election in November is simple question for all voters. It your day to day life better or worse than it was 4 years ago?
Here's an over/under. Will Biden get more or less votes than Hillary? Is there a voter who voted for Hillary who would not vote for Biden? Is there a voter who didn't vote for Hillary who would vote for Biden?
|
You're under-estimating the divisiveness of Trump. There are a lot of otherwise low-political to apolitical people in this country who despise everything about Trump and will show that support at the polls to voice that displeasure. The turnout and flipping blue of even low office republicans in protest of Trump is obvious.
Biden is an easy vote for people who want to get rid of Trump but think their day to day life is ok. Bernie would have lots of people second guessing if they want to blow things up or not. I don't know how many people I've heard say I didn't want to vote for Trump, but just couldn't stomach voting for Hillary. I've never heard anyone say that about Biden (well, in real life anyway).

Warren dropping out.
https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/05/u...e=articleShare
Quote:
BOSTON — Senator Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts plans to drop out of the presidential race on Thursday and will inform her staff of her plans later this morning, according to a person close to her, ending a run defined by an avalanche of policy plans that aimed to pull the Democratic Party to the left and appealed to enough voters to make her briefly a front-runner last fall, but that proved unable to translate excitement from elite progressives into backing from the party’s more working-class and diverse base.

Is it too late for Al Franken to jump into the race? He would have cleaned up this year.

Those are mostly all out there. I'm not seeing him becoming such a hated, polarizing figure.
No word of Warren endorsing Bernie yet? The dynamic between those two is interesting.

Warren won't endorse Sanders. That would be suicide for her. She can endorse Biden and have her pick of cabinet positions.

I guess I see now why Bernie is desperate enough to start invoking Obama in Florida, he might get 0 delegates which would obviously be the end of his campaign.

The Florida numbers show why so many of us are skeptical of Bernie in a general election.

Warren's probably going to wait until it's absolutely clear who is going to win before endorsing that person. Hell, she might even wait until one or the other concedes.

I seriously doubt Warren's endorsement will mean much, I imagine her supporters will break pretty close to 50/50 between Biden and Bernie, regardless who she endorses.

A comedian for president. Just like in Ukraine. We can do it!

The biggest progressives are Bernie backers and they already consider her a traitor for not dropping out before Super Tuesday so Bernie could win. Even a token endorsement now likely won't get them to forgive her.

True. It's been said that she has a lot of 'grass-top' support, like celebs, professors, rich moms etc. but very little 'grass-roots' support. Which showed in her results.

Thing is, Franken was actually a really good politician and was so for almost decade. He just failed the Democrats' idiotic moral purity test.
Zelensky was a comedian right up until he announced running for President.

Yeah, people putting all of Warren's supporters in the Sanders column are dreaming. A lot of her support is from women who want to see a woman in the Whitehouse. And given the advantage Biden has over Sanders in college-educated white women, most will naturally slide over to him. Especially as Biden is the home for the 'anyone but Trump' vote.

I just can't think of him without seeing this first. I'm sure many people can't as well.
