Stumbled my way into a post worthy spotting today at a plane and car show. Didn’t get to talk to the owner, but someone knowledgable said it was late 30s early 40s. Kid also said it’s specialized for short take offs and landings…. No kidding. The thing jumped right up in the air easiest of the day.

There is something about those planes starting up that is just stupidly and perpetually satisfying. I could listen to that thing idle all day.

Question for you. It had a bunch of black wires about 8” long dangling off various points at the back of the aircraft. They were a bit frayed at the ends, reasonably thick gauge, and they just dangled out there. I was hoping someone could tell me what they were. One guy guessed to increase radio frequencies. My guess was static discharge. I wish a took a picture to make this request easier. You can sort of see one at the base of the tail in the photo I posted.

Most likely static wicks for discharge.

What's the reason for USAF Stratotankers circling Kcountry? I assume one to refuel AF1 of required, but two?

Support for combat air patrol? Assuming it’s not just Canada doing that and a norad tasking. Some of this is also very good training ground. Realistically the threat level is probably pretty low here but they can play for real in this scenario.

Carney landed. Mics could pick up charter, he chatted hockey with Smith and she seemed less confident than Carney (assuming about the Oilers).
No white hat. Shake some dignitaries hands (Premier, Mayor, a First Nations man) and then off into black Suburbans.
German Air Force arriving now. Odd how it's on flight tracking where other dignitaries planes, including Carney's, isn't (which makes sense why they aren't).

Their fighter jets don’t show up on ASD-B so they could have some patrolling.

Are the leaders being flown via helicopter or are they being taken downtown and then to the site via motorcade?
