I believe in the Jays.

I think Rubio wins in the end. The GOP establishment will want Bush but eventually they'll have to give up on it and go for the one guy at least nominally from their ranks that's within spitting distance and that ends up as Rubio. My bet would be that he pulls into the lead on Super Tuesday

Doesn't matter if he doesn't do his own tweets. One slip up from a staffer is an accident. Multiple slips ups is an established agenda.

Unless some dark horse candidate comes in for the Republicans, they have lost the White House for the foreseeable future. Every single one of their candidates is a wack job and while the general public in the US isn't that smart, there are enough smart ones to ensure that none of these rejects get their hands on the launch codes.

Yes. There will be a mass exodus of typically tight leaning independents if a Trump, Carson or Cruz (even Rubio) get the nomination. There is a reason the endorsement primary had Bush with a massive lead and it has started to move to Rubio. They need the center-right. Without it, they allow Clinton to move center-right on many issues and snap up those voters.

I don't think they're all wack jobs. Paul, Christie, Fiorina, Kasich, Bush and Rubio don't strike me as wack jobs, although I disagree with them on many things. Of course, most of them have no real chance.

Wow trump just announced he's calling for a complete shutdown of Muslims entering the US, citing a stat that 25% of Muslims support violence against the USA.
Maybe he'll propose building a wall on the Atlantic coast?

The site he references is (shockingly) a far-right website known for propagating bull####. I do think this takes him over 50% in the GOP nomination polls though.

There's really no doubt that there are polls demonstrating some very extreme views among muslims in many countries, and you can't really accuse Pew of bias. That being said, what's the threshold here? What percentage of X group must hold anti-american views in order to shut the whole group out?
Let's say 10% of white people hold views incompatible with American constitutional values. Keep all the whites out?
I'm really wondering how far he has to go in order for it to be too far. It's like he's deliberately testing those limits and trying to implode his campaign. What's the next press release, "Hitler had some good ideas, he just chose the wrong religion to 'solve'"?

I keep saying "this has to be the nail in the coffin of his presidential aspirations" and it never is. This is literally insane especially in light of last night's very well done, logical, and non fear mongering presidential address. Christ this populace is stupid.

It's gotten to the point where either Trump is going to win and the National Socialist State of America will be born, or Hillary will win and right wingers will be out of their minds and domestic terrorism will go up exponentially. And with his stance, Trump essentially needs to root for 2016 to be loaded with terrorist attacks to justify it. So he basically will be cheering on ISIS and jihadists next year as it makes him more electable with his fascist approach.
America is in such a bad way right now.

You dramatically overestimate Americans' satisfaction with Hilary Clinton, and underestimate their frustration with the Democrats.

Disturbing, as if his previous statements weren't bad enough. Trump is genuinely evil, and a total POS. He has to know his supporters are foaming at the mouth to vilify any muslim (or even brown skinned people for that matter) in America already. This is only going to re-enforce bigotry and cause further abuse and attacks on muslims who have nothing to do with terrorism or extremism.
This is also a complete attack on the sensibility of what the US is (or once was) as a nation. The fact that he will probably continue to lead the republican nomination? Disgrace. To say the country is a mess is an understatement. The nation is gripped with some form of collective mental illness.

There is no length too far for someone to reach unless others are willing to admonish them for it.
It's up to the rest of the GOP slate of candidates to put Trump on an island by himself but none are willing to do so.
It makes sense for a guy like Rubio, Trump is a godsend. For the 'no chance in hell' crowd, now would be the time to differentiate themselves.
Unfortunately what trump is doing works in a society filled with neanderthals.

Naw, the U.S. has a long history of enthusiasm for populist demagogues. Huey Long. Father Coughlin. Joseph McCarthy. George Wallace. We just don't have much of a cultural memory of politics before about 1968.

That's what Nelson Rockefeller thought in '64, and Barry Goldwater trounced him. Of course Goldwater lost the general election, and Trump will too.
