I'm not convinced that what we witnessed this past season was the result of "natural chemistry" any more than it was Rattie—a very good prospect in his own right—taking advantage and feeding off of the elite-level intelligence, vision and puck skills of Baertschi.
Can you think of any examples of two juniour players with tremendous "chemistry" who managed to reproduce it at the NHL level? If not, then I seriously question why we would pursue this as an option for Baertschi and Rattie.

I believe the Sedins played together thoughout their career, however they are obviously a special case. I think the way the NHL operates, it naturally tends to split up players with potential chemistry. Perhaps more should be done to keep players together showing early chemistry.

I don't think I would turn away a prospect like Rattie because chemistry between two players in juniors doesn't translate to NHL success as a tandem. Rattie wouldn't neccesarily be playing with Sven once/if he reached the NHL and was playing on the same team. If the deal was right and Rattie was part of a good return I say do it up, if he ended playing with Sven and found chemistry again that would be a bonus.

I agree with this, I just think he is more of a project than some seem to think.

IMO, we already have a Rattie and his name is Ryan Howse and he's a far more well-rounded player than Ty Rattie is. At Rattie's age, Howse was better than Rattie was.
Both were elite level snipers in the CHL, but Rattie is as soft as a pancake whereas Howse is tougher than he looks and he actually plays a physical game.
I'm not a fan of Rattie because I don't like his game. Snipers are nice, but they have to be able to translate to the pro game and with Rattie's style of play, I can't see him translating well.
Between Sven and Rattie, we definitely got the Iginla whereas the Blues got Domenichelli.

No, not turn away. Certainly, having Rattie in the Flames organization would be good, just because he is another pretty solid NHL prospect. What I have a problem with is pursuing a player specifically with the intent of remanufacturing juniour chemistry with another player. I fear that if the Flames took the same approach as a number of posters seem to have in their desire to trade for Rattie, then they would end up substantially overpaying for the asset.

Why does every "Sven is good moment" turn into a "Rattie is bad" moment?

Probably because posters are sick of seeing every "Sven is good" moment turning into "Rattie is anything" moment. Why can't we just leave Rattie out of this altogether? Honestly, after this next season the vast majority of the hockey world will likely have forgotten that these two players ever played together.

We scored.. we scored big with Baertschi.
Ugh, and heres a stupid question. How do you spell it. I've seen it spelled Baertschi, Bartschi, and Bartschi with two little dots above it. In the WHL, his jersey said Bartschi.. but while he was with us, it said Baertschi. On NHL 12, It's Bartschi. I saw the dots somewhere, maybe when he was on the WJC Swiss team? not sure.
I kind of want to compare Yakupov and Baertschi. So Baertschi rolled in 94 points in 47 games in the WHL which, from what I've seen, is more talented than the OHL. I mean, I know Gretzky, and Francis came out of the OHL (both from my hometown team, btw, which is awesome), but I go and watch Greyhound games on a regular basis and they aren't as talented as the WHL games I've watched. Sure, the west doesn't hold host to cities like Parry Sound, Sault Ste Marie, Belleville, Toronto, etc.. but at the moment players like Baertschi and Rattie and goalies like Brossoit, Glover.. doesn't seem like it compares much to the ohl.
Anyways.. So if Baertschi rolled in 94 in 47 and Yakupov 69 in 42, that means that clearly Baertschi performed better.
Now, I know Yakupov got 102 last season, in 65 games. I think Baertschi would have gotten more than that had he that many more games. Now Baertschi did much better this season than last, but both performances were incredible. I think the drafting and being given a year more to develop was great for him. But how will Yakupov react? I mean, will his bad end to the season effect him? Or will his being drafted first give him a boost to make an immediate effect in the NHL?

The absolutely "proper" way is Bärtschi, but the ä when translated to English becomes "ae".
Also Portland spelled his name Bärtschi
so long story short, both Calgary and Portland do it right, while NHL12 does it wrong.

yeah its safer to just assume NHL12 does it wrong. The NHL games are the biggest culprit as to why fans don't understand waivers.

The NHL games don't allow you to sign extensions. The NHL games make no sense of waivers. The NHL games spell names wrong. The NHL games would be better off with Rob Kerr doing the commentary.
Yet I still play them for days on end. Who knows... maybe 13 will get it right.

Well, I donno. I've played most of the NHL games. Infact, recently, I picked up NHL 2003 again just because iginla was on the case.. lol. And I really do think that the commentators we have now are the worst.
Infact, because I have an incredible memory with names and numbers, when I have people over, I mute the TV and i am the commentator. They all think that's what I should do.

Heh, well for me it's just the stupid quotes. "wheew! Doggy! what a save!" . " Wow, he was on that puck like a heyena on bacon " . "What a save by Kiprusoff" (50 times a match, though that common through all the games)
