I overheard someone's convo once because bluetooth through the car's speakers was loud and their windows were down. After the "Love you!" end to the phone convo, one of the young guys in the back said something like, "You say 'love you' to your parents after every phone call? Man, we don't talk like that at home."

A surprising conversation, but heartwarming too.
As youngin's our conversation would have ended differently. Someone in the car would have yelled "love you, too dad!" followed by raucous laughter, and then "and tell your mom I love her too!" woooooo! *loud yelling until hangup*.

I don't know. It's how I've been labeled about such things, so I just took that and ran with it, LOL. It's all good, as far as I'm concerned.

Sometimes, my odd nerdiness makes me happy. It means I buy useful (to me anyway) little gadgets. I got myself a Bissell Steamshot (thanks TikTok, LOL) and it makes me silly happy, how well it steams things clean. My lungs are damaged from an autoimmune reaction, and oven cleaners are something I can't use. I can't even be in the house when they're used. Consequently, my husband ends up cleaning the oven and it bugs me, because he has enough else on his plate without having to do the oven as well. This little Steamshot thing pretty much whipped all the baked-on crap off like nobody's business - a bit of elbow grease finished off the rest. I got it done, I didn't have to vacate the house to get the oven clean, and the hubster didn't have to touch it.

I also now have the cleanest window tracks in the whole neighborhood, I think. That steam gets in all the smallest nooks and crannies that I can't get into. I tried it on a tap out at camp, with that hard water buildup and same thing - gets it right off. I don't like cleaning, but I do like clean things and this helps me accomplish that far easier, and much quicker.

Yes, I am an odd nerd, and that nerdiness makes me happy, as does this gadget.
Damn I love rinky-dink little cleaner things like this, you got me to look it up and then Amazon showed me it's only $50...

So guess what's showing up on the weekend and who's gonna have rival window tracks shortly?

What makes me happy is when I hang out with a friend and they don’t bring up how crappy Trudeau or the UCP are. It’s a rare occasion an we can listen to Iron Maiden and not get depressed, except for those murdered in the rue morgue.

My son's best friend moved to the US around this time last year.

We went on vacation to California last week, and the friend & his family made it down to visit with us for a day, and they had the absolute best day ever.

My little girl ####ing amazes me.

We play on the same beer league team.

A 19 yr old and a bunch of 40-50 yr old men.

I missed our last game for work travel and woke up to a text from a buddy.

"You daughter is amazing, I think she saved a life tonight"

One of the boys wasn't feeling well after the game. He was trying to figure out what was happening, but was a bit "off". My daughter jumped in assessed him and got him to the hospital.

Took the family to the Nagar Kirtan/Vaisakhi celebrations yesterday and we were completely blown away by literally everything about it - sights, smells, music, food and the general sense of happiness that was floating around. I really love that Calgary isn't nearly as homogeneous as it appears on the surface.

I had no idea I needed these, but they make Salt and Vinegar Hickory Sticks now. They are fantastic. R.I.P. to the skin in my mouth.

That does sound hazardous to the roof of your mouth.

Both my kids are finished university, that makes me happy (and sad at the same time). This semester was on pins and needles as my son changed programs part way through and they couldn't tell him if he would officially graduate until everything was reviewed - once the school year was over and well after it was time to register for spring/summer/fall terms if he needed to pick anything up.

University turned out not be what any of us expected for them, what a massively stressful 5 years for them and also my wife and myself and Covid completely hijacked their whole experience. But they're done and both graduated with honors. I'm a proud and happy dad today - even if they didn't go to my alma mater.....

Just picked my wife and I's bicycles from the shop today.

We both really got into biking last summer, but late. This year, we were on top of it and we're both quite excited to do a lot of cycling. Here's to some new adventures!

Would you say they're more akin to Old Dutch salt & vinegar or Mrs. Vickies salt & vinegar? I love Mrs. Vickies, but not really a huge fan of other salt & vinegar chips.

Sorry, I'm not a big chip guy. Are Miss Vickie's the ones with malt vinegar?

Omg, this guy. Dude, chips fall out of your cargo pants pockets when you sit down. Your nickname in high school was Old Dutch ffs.

Whoa, both barrels. Chill, Lay's guy. They are akin to Lays salt and vinegar. Try them out, if you are disappointed I will take the rest of the bag off your hands.

you'll have to head over to the Cycling sub forum now and let us know if you're looking for any specific type of rides, trails, locations, experiences, etc... lots to be had in and around Calgary.
