Looks like Vlad to the O's is basically done, 1 year for 8 million. Eric Chavez and Ronnie Belliard both signed minor league deals with the Yankees today. I could see Belliard winning a bench job on the Yanks out of spring training, I still don't think Chavez will stay healthy to make any kind of impact.
Personally, I think its a good move for the O's, they actually have a half decent lineup right now. They really don't have any top end prospects ready to burst into the lineup to make a difference right now. Vlad very likely becomes one of the top trade deadline players this coming season and gives the O's a real opportunity to get some kids for their very poor system right now.

Michael Young has requested a trade. I would think the A's would be really interested so I sent an email to my buddy in Oakland to see if anything is happening.
Young is a solid solid player, and I'm sure he'd be a good leader on the team, but I'm not a fan of his speed on the basepads. I'm hoping that this team from 1 through 8 will be a threat to steal bases (Arencibia excluded at the 9).

The A's arn't on his list of 8 teams:
Cardinals, Yankees, Twins, Astros, Rockies, Dodgers, Angels, and Padres
I laugh when I read that it may not happen because they have Ryan Theriot in place at SS. Theriot should never stop you from acquiring a player, especially one that is better than him.
Cardinals won't likely do it because for some reason they have decided to go cheap despite the fact they have about a 4 year window to win.
Terrible off-season for them and perhaps followed by the worst off-season of modern times if they lose Pujols next year.
I've been told that the A's front office is interested in Young but there are 2 issues, they are not sure he would waive to go to the A's and secondly Billy Beane is not sure the Rangers would move Young within the division. In saying that, I was told that Beane will call the Rangers.
Flick - they were talking on MLB radio that Daniels would move Young within the division, but the price would be hefty... Food for thought. Would make the A's a pretty strong contender in the East forsure, solidifying the middle of their lineup. If they happen to land Young, I wonder what they'd do with Kouzmanoff?

My gut tells me that they would want to include Kouz in the deal for Young. At this point in time, I would think that Young to the A's is a long shot at best.
I would love to have Pujols, but not for 10 years. 30 million a year at 37+ is just insane.
As our understanding of health and recovery continue to improve, the boundaries of age will follow.
It's not unrealistic to think a 40 year old could win MVP in ten years, especially at a position that demands more from the mind than the legs.
I'm not advocating a blank cheque, but the market is unique because the two big dogs in the AL East are locked in at 1B, and Toronto offers a tempting combination of high demands*, free payroll, and latin teammates.
*if his ego is as big as the rumours make it out to be, knocking off the Sawx and Yanks might be exactly what he's after

There's always two sides to an argument, and it's always a tie.
I still think that it makes too much sense for him to re-sign with the Cardinals whether during the season or next off season. Both parties have way too much to lose by him going somewhere else.
I can't see him going to the Blue jays as you would think that he would want to win and I there would be other teams that would offer him huge money that would be more attractive for him to go to.
Even though the Yankees have Tex, I would think that they would still go after Pujols and move Tex to DH. If they get a chance to get the best player in the past 40 years I can't see them not spending the money to get him.
