Some people need to get over the whole "crowd" thing they believe. Many posters I'm joking and laughing (and having inter species fun with) in this thread I've gone toe-to-toe with in the past.

I joined up after the I caught wind of the Regehr/Staal rumor that originated here. I had been a member of several other Flames communities for years, but for whatever reason never joined this site.

After being a member here for a couple of months, I've learned that CP has it's pros and cons just like every other place. I like that there are a lot of knowledgeable people here, and it seems to me it's a bit of an older crowd for the most part. I also especially enjoy the OT forum; a lot of very interesting conversation, and some very helpful advice. However, CP does have a reputation for being "elitist" or "cliquey", and unfortunately, I've experienced it first hand.

So, I sat down and thought about it. I'm a grizzled vet, if you will, at other forums, and I wondered how I treated new posters there. Turns out, not very well. To my credit, the only time I was really a jerk was when someone presented with an obviously stupid opinion (and I'm one of those people who firmly believe and opinion can be wrong).

In the end, the internet is an incredibly sarcastic domain that's chalk full of people who are emboldened by anonymity.

People hate Hitler. People seem to love Lanny. So much that they are sharing PM's with the rest of CP. Who even PM's on CP? the only messages I get are infractions.

Sure. Sounds fair. I just found it strange that you would start a thread about negativity and anger on the boards and then participate in a thread that is contrary to that which you posted about. I agree with your original position and think it's pretty juvenile to be sharing personal information like this. I just think it does more damage to the community than it does good.

I think another issue that is underlying some of the hostility is for some reason a couple posters here have taken it upon themselves to post in each and every thread, regardless if they have an educated opinion or personal stake in the topic or not. People are clearly tired of reading it, and lash out.

I mean this is a messageboard, so the purpose is to post, but when you are posting close to 100 times a day and there's not a thread without your username in it, I mean give me a break.

I know me personally there are a couple posters here that as soon as I see their username in a thread i'm agitated before I even read what they say which likely leads to sarcastic/angry response.

I don't know what type of poster I'm viewed as here, or if anyone even notices that I post at all. I kind of like how certain users here have their schtick, even if it's somewhat negative - it can be entertaining.

I don't know, it's kind of fun to have those people around to rag on once in a while. I guess what I'm trying to say is, the ignore list is there if there's someone you don't want to read. I choose not to use it because I get some sick satisfaction by watching people self-destruct and get banned.

Awesome story bro. I really don't care who believes what as I'm sure the mods keep track of IP addresses and know I'm not a returning banned user. I tried signing up for CP a while back, but it wouldn't allow me to use hotmail as a email so I never tried again untill recently and I guess the policy changed. I no longer frequent CDC or HF and find the level of discussion here a hundred times better.

Well, I didn't comment on the Lanny PM stuff. I'll leave that to others.

Really, I would like more new posters to post in here what they think after having registered. Right now, it's mostly just the old guard posting, so you're not going to get the same angle as you would from you and Codes and FastFelony. And no-one's really flaming anyone in here, although there is some airing of grievances going on, I guess. But if someone's going to do it, it might as well be in a thread about that topic. I think it's being handled well enough.
