Decent win. Despite the leadoff double, Frasor did very well there.

Nice win, great game by some players, others... meh. But hopefully the young guys can build off the win. Excited to see Ricky tommorrow.
Also happy with Sniders patience so far at the plate. Between preseason and the first 2 games the kid has sat on the pitches he needed to and took walks.

Nice to see the lineup earn 10 walks.
Also, nice to see Travis Snider rebound from a brutal opener to smack a double while earning a couple free passes. I still contend the Jays would be better off moving him up to the six hole in order to protect him a little bit with Encarnacion coming behind him. With Snider hitting 9th, he isn't going to see jack to hit all year because guys will pitch around him in order to get to Bautista.
Good first couple games for the boys.

Took Wells 17 games last year to generate his 3rd HR. The media types are saying he is actually healthy now (I guess his wrist was buggered and he had off-season surgery).
I know its two games, if Wells can rebound and get back anything close to where he was at that would be a great thing.
I wish it was his contract year.... lots of years to go....

Wells still has three years left on his contract after this season. He earns 23 million as a salary this year, and 21 million each of the next 3 years. Thats still a total of 86 million owed to him. But hey he can opt out after next year!

Anyone else think that Encarnacion looks like Tracy Morgan?

The way he fields his position sometimes maybe he is Tracy Morgan.

Bastian posted on his blog that Aaron Hill was a late scratch due to right hamstring tightness considered day to day.

Romero pitches out of trouble in the 2nd. Buck and Molina are going to combine for some pretty ugly numbers this year

What they do offensively is a bonus. They were signed to work with the Jays young arms and make the transition to the bigs smoother. Molina is one of the best defensive catchers in the game and frames pitches better than anyone ive seen. But yes they will both probably hit in the .230's

The Jays organizational philosophy towards situational hitting is so flawed.
The Jays have to be one of the worst situational hitting teams in the league. Season after season, it's pretty routine to see runners stranded on 3rd after being on with 0 or 1 out. All our hitters do in these situations is start hacking at garbage in an attempt to just make enough contact to drive in the runners. The problem is they just put themselves in 0-2 situations and the pitcher just feeds them junk outside the zone until the strikeout.
The problem is that the Jays put themselves in situational hitting positions instead of being aggressive on the basepaths. They never send runners home unless it's almost a certainty that they score. They need to realize the fact that you can do this if you can drive in runs via situational hitting, but the Jays clearly aren't able to do this.

Wells hits his 4th of the year in the top of the 9th to tie the game 1-1.
Unreal start for VW.
