So far, I think this thing is destined to be the next big thing. The price simply dictates as to how fast that actually happens.
Where Apple has the edge over other tablets is the interface and the massive iTunes support backbone.

It doesnt sound like the audience is overly impressed either given the applause volume compared to at the start of the event.

Sadly, I have an EDIT course which needs Office. I'd be annoyed, but I bought Office last year, because Augustana was even worse. They just recently got the 2007 version of Office on all their computers.

Tough to get a crowd of Mac fanboys excited about eBooks and iWork...
However, there has been over a year of speculation on this thing, it had no alternative but to disappoint.

It could get people excited if they did something innovating that people hadn't expected, but it looks like all they've done is combine a bunch of technology they already have and tried to sell it as something new. If you already have a macbook and an iPhone, you can already do everything they've shown so far. Plus make phone calls.

I wanted it to be both. Why the hell would I want to carry around a big ipod touch and a macbook???

So lets say I'm sitting on a plane, or on a bench, or anywhere else that doesn't have a nice big flat surface in front of me. You're telling me that I have to prop this thing up somehow so I can look at it straight on and then I have to find something flat to put a keyboard down on? ...and so I have to carry around two separate pieces (keyboard and iPad)?
I'll take the laptop that I can use in my lap anywhere, and just carry around my little iPod Touch. I have no use for this big thing.

True...but again, over a year of speculation. I don't understand what else COULD be expected. As long as it's successful at it's focus.
