Is it just me or does Rios look completely bored or disinterested out there?
He's super frustrating to watch this year.
He always looks like that, the one benefit of being a cool customer is that he shouldn't sink into such lousy slumps - but he does.
I still like the guy and want him around, but maybe slide Rios down to 9th in the batting order. Rios & Snider would be a formidable bottom of the order and a lousy streak by Rios wouldn't be (as much of) an issue. Rolen would be fine at the 3 spot, Snider sneaks up to 7th or 8th.
Whatever theory Cito has about keeping his young players (Lind last year, Snider this year) at the bottom of the order despite performance really seems to work and I like it. I think it might help Alexis.

For whatever reason Rios just doesn't seem to like hitting 3rd. Must be a mental thing or something with him. I dont know if you could try moving him back to the leadoff spot and than dropping Scutaro and Hill into the 2-3 spots. For whatever reason Rios just doesn't do much in the 3 spot, but if they put him leadoff he can hit.
It's funny but I know I used to hit far better if I was hitting leadoff than anywhere else in the lineup when I played in a mens league. We had another guy on our team who should have hit 3rd, but he insisted he hit 5th or else he sucked. Our best hitter wanted to hit 6th. You wouldn't think it should matter where you hit but the mind tends to do things to you that don't make sense. Looks like it even affects real professional guys too.

Hill has to turn that DP. Horrific throw to first.
And a closer who gives up 3 runs in an inning.....that is no closer. I have no problem with having someone else (Camp? Carlson? --- not League!) set up Downs as our new 9th inning guy.

Tough way to start for the Rangers O'dell. Arrives late in the game, shakes the hands of the bullpen that gets tossed into the game wearing the wrong jersey since they don't have one ready for him.
And he gives up the winning hit to the first batter he faces.
Just found this thread. Love it. I'm a die-hard, life-long Jays fan and their message board is terrible.
I'm lovin' this years team and I've always liked BJ but wow...Cito don't ever let this guy have the baseball again. Looks like they might have to close by committee with Frasor and Downs.
Frasor looks awesome this year, he went and saw some pitching guru in the offseason and added a wicked change-up to his repertoire. Downs is pretty much money in the bank these dasy.
Remember when Tom Henke and Duane Ward used to stroll out of the pen and you could pretty much turn the channel cause you knew the game was over? Miss those days.
Just if league could perform like he did last yr ! We would not have to worry about BJ.

Baseball is unbelievably hardcore in the means of being told what to do in regards to training. The trainers develop their own strength training regimes and more importantly stretching. I am aware they also do this in hockey. So players who had developed their own habits will do their own strength training and stretching (ie tubing) and compound things. I recall an incident not to mention any organizations where a trainer drove around to local gyms scoping out players, and than telling the managers which resulted in a huge fine.
Pitching is the most un-natural, violent motion so any fluctuation in the means of stretching or strength training can be absolutley deadly.

28 y/o Lefty
13-18, 5.9 ERA
Best pitch is his changeup, which is highly regarded. He also has a high 80s-low 90 MPH fastball and a decent curveball. - wikipedia
