Jays need to get their stuff together.

All this talk about not letting what happened last year happen again; losing to the lesser teams.

Here we are almost a month in and the same team is back, maybe even worse.

I don't understand why this teams offense just keeps on sputtering.

3. Rios
4. Bonds
5. Wells

...is starting to look a lot better to me.

The Jays are not good at baseball. Perfect ugly storm to start the season unfortunately.

Rolen getting hurt.
Ricciardi dumping Johnson(sparkplug) for Stewart(done?).
Thomas losing his batspeed and not admitting it.
Overbay doesn't even have doubles power anymore.
Pitching not as good as advertised.
Accardo losing his splitter.

Looks like a fragile team that's for sure, well other than Stairs, who the Jays should make the playing-manager.

Yeah, and Johnson is off to a great start to the year with the Cubs like most thought he would be. National league ball is his M.O.

Scott Rolen is playing! Just hit a 2 run double, 4-2 Jays in the 8th.

Gibbons is brutal.

In sports, when you have the lead late in the game, you have to protect that lead. Baseball, hockey, football, soccer, basketball...that same golden rule applies. So why in God's name is a glove like John MacDonald's on the bench in the bottom of the 8th inning? Especially when Eckstein has already had a shakey game defensively....Gibbons HAS to put MacDonald in for Eckstein, absolutely has to.

Now, because of his non-decisions and the Jays inability to clamp down on a lead, they are going to lose another game to one of the worst teams in the league.

Gibbons needs to go. He does nothing except get a front row seat and watch his team lose every night. I'm convinced most people who post in this thread could do a better job managing a game than this pylon.

Balls!

Tough one to watch for sure. Felt bad for Burnett.........he pitched well enough to get the win, but everything imploded in the 8th for the entire team.

Big tailspin right now. Seems like they're just finding ways to lose.

Is it over already? The sox and yanks are way too strong to be caught after such a terrible run in the early part of the season.

Well I'll be surprised if Gibbons lasts until next weekend if they continue this slump. Ridiculous to have MacDonald on the bench considering Eckstein's earlier error, and Burnett should have been done as soon as player reached base. To fritter away a huge momentum builder that Rolen's hit would have provided is unacceptable. Oh and get Wells out of the cleanup spot please.

Marcum pitched a nice game, but the Jays lost anyways 2-1......they have now lost 6 straight.

Scary stat of the day: Jays hitters are only 4 for 42 with runners in scoring position during the first five games of their road trip.

I listened to a bit of Jays talk on Fan 590, and the host said the Jays are 11 for their last 100 with runners in scoring position, truly pathetic. The Jays have to move their batting lineup around, Rios or Overbay should be leading off as they get on base a ton but don't slug. Wells doesn't get on base near enough to hit fourth, and having all the lefties bunched at the bottom of the order is just dumb.

my take...

Rios
Hill
Stairs (Should be Bonds' spot)
Rolen
Lind
Wells
Overbay
Zaun
Eckstein

For what you're getting right now take Eckstein out for a couple days and put McDonald back at short. I mean it's your 9th place hitter and one guy will get you a couple of extra outs a game from his defence.

Really, MacDonald should play everyday with Litsch, Halladay and Burnett on the mound. While Eck should get Marcum/McGowan (and the occasional Burnett start) - because of each pitcher's groundball tendencies.

Eck has been playing some scary bad defense lately, which has cost us games.
