Its too bad that family guy has slid so far downhill. There was so much potential with the cast of crew of TNG and the best they could do was recycle the whole WH pronounciation of Will Weaton's name.
It was just poorly executed.

Both story lines were bad. The Star Trek story line just fell flat, there was two exceptions to that. One was killing Denise Crosby, I laughed at that. the other was the abuse of Will Wheaton at the drive through. Other then that it just wasn't funny, and the end part with Adam West and Rob Lowe was just weird.
The Meg story line really bordered on offensive for me and not in a funny way. The book burning was over the top and just not funny, and Brian as an atheist being willing to sell out his beliefs for booze was dumb.
In fact the only good line in the whole thing was Peter bemoaning that this was a Meg episode and offering the viewers the remote control. To me that showed that even the writers knew that the episode was really weak.
I guess you have to look at the Family Guy and Robot Chicken Star Wars episodes if you want to see really well done parody.

I have to say, the TNG Family Guy could have been a lot better. It had some funny moments though, mostly courtesy of Patrick Stewart. The "Whil Wheaton" thing was very dumb. The Rob Lowe/Adam West scene was weird, but Adam West made it funny enough to be passable. The Meg/Brian subplot was abhorrent. 5-10 years ago, that episode would have been banned. The offensive moments in this one weren't even that funny, unlike the banned Jewish Family Guy episode. Though I will admit, I did laugh at Mayor Adam West's commentary on why Terrorists are better than Atheists, despite that crossing the line.

This kind of reaction by Paramount before the movie is even out really gives me a lot of confidence that Star Trek fans are in for a treat on May 8th.

I really hope this movie is huge. I just fear with May being such a big movie month this year, it doesn't open big then tail off.

I really doubt that happens with such a huge fan base already in place, there's no way this movie busts

I'm sure it will open well, I just am curious to see what word of mouth does to it.

They should open it on May 4th just to screw with all the Star Wars fans...
I can't wait to see this movie... I enjoy watching Star Trek, but by no means do I follow it like a religion.
On a side note: I saw a vanity plate in Toronto over the weekend which had the Starfleet Insignia on it. They have vanity plates for Star Trek fans!
