i remember as a kid throwing a baseball up in the air and trying to make the catch before it went over the fence.

Scoring a goal in hockey i still get a good feeling from. Back in contact days, when you made that perfect check, also I was a bigger guy my last few years so when people would try to hit me and fall down i loved that and still do!

Seeing all your buddies and family after being away for 2 months.

get a great feeling when i fly to New jersey to see my dad.

Was in a bunker at Kananaskis and in that beautiful white sand and actually hit an explosion shot just like on TV. A cloud of sand up in the air and my ball popped up and landed soft and rolled up nice and cosy. Made the putt as well for a par. Gotta love that!!!

I did much the same in 2000. Flew down to Phoenix to help mom put their winter home for sale as dad's cancer had spread. Packed all movable items into the van for the trip back home to Calgary. Put mom and dad on a plane while I drove the van home. 2 months later my father was dead.

Catching someone cutting across center ice with their head dead, especially when you dont even feel the impact and knock them into next week.

I played defense in football and the offenses was going for it on third and short and I creamed the HB coming through the hole, stopping him short and causing a fumble. That was awesome.

Having braces taken off, an IV taken out of your arm, or a cast removed. Or, like someone mentioned, the feeling of recovering from a cold or flu.

Skipping up to the front of the room to hand in your last exam and being met in the hallway by friends and a backpack of beer is incredibly exhilirating. Also, for me, after rushing to finish an essay and scrambling as fast as possible to hand it in right at the wire the feeling afterwards, letting all those tensed nerves relax and feeling able to spend your time doing whatever you want.

The shock to the system that comes with arriving in a foreign local and observing things that are different, either completely or just tweaked enough to give you some perspective or make you feel free and excited. I get the same feeling when I'm done packing for a long road trip, when I step onto a train or plane, or, less frequently, finding out you've gotten a job or placement somewhere 'away'.

Laughing, hard, at nothing in particular with good friends or a girlfriend/wife who somehow shares your sense of humour. Or drowning in said girlfriend's freshly washed (but dry), good smelling, hair (in a non-sexual way).

The rush of hot-air in a mall or building entranceway after a long walk in the cold. Also, yeah, taking off skates or snowboard boots and rubbing your feet.

The feeling of relief that comes with having your friends tell you that, despite the fact that you don't remember all of the previous evening, you didn't do anything insanely stupid. Flip side is finding out you did something insanely stupid and survived and didn't **** anyone off (that, I'm sure is and has been a whole other thread).

...and steak sandwiches. A good feeling for my tongue. Perhaps not so good for the cow. mmmmmmm steak.

Thought of a new one from yesterday.

Shoveling the walk and driveway for an hour and coming inside and having hot chocolate waiting for you.

Reminded me of when I was a kid and my brother and I would play in the snow for what felt like hours, and no matter the sporadic timing of our entrances, mom always had the hot chocolate ready.

Don't know why but your post made me think of that old joke.

A mother-in-law drops over unexpectedly to her daughter-law's house and is stunned when she answers the door in her birthday suit. The mother-in-law asks her what on earth she is doing. The daughter says that she thought is was her husband returning and that she greets him this way everyday and she calls it meeting him in her "love suit". It keeps our love life going strong says the daughter.

The mother-in-law thinks it's a good idea and meets her husband at the door that night wearing nothing but a smile. She says "What do you think of my love suit". To which the hubbie replies "It needs ironing".
