But Bissonnette seems to fit in there much more than Hrudey nowadays, so we could be seeing even more as opposed to less going forward.

Abbot is so scattered with his call and his thoughts that it lets Kelly just go off on tangents and he clearly prefers to analyze opponents, and not just in a “observer” type of way. You don’t get this with any other color guys that I’ve listened to on regional broadcasts.

Maybe he’s wanting to appear fully neutral and provide analysis of opponents to show his bosses he still has that ability? Thing is that same analysis can be done in that detail on the Flames.

My comment that Ball carried Hrudey isn’t meant as a slight on Abbott. He’s done a pretty darn good job but I don’t think he is comfortable enough to take the reins yet and lets Hrudey to meander and fill dead air with nonsense.

Maybe not but Abbott isn’t even close to the same league as Ball in lots of ways. Somewhat ironic him and Kelly complaining about pace of cadence of his game because the way they deliver most games on TV seems as scattered as this game is being played.

Ball could bring the viewer to a more invested state with the emotion and cadence and continuity. Abbott sometimes just throws out random words and statements and agonizing periods of silence aka Rob Kerr back when.

Ball was great but I don’t have any issues with Abbot. We could have a lot worse (points up north).

As for the Flames, don’t have to apologize for any game where they score 5. Some sloppy defense and Wolf not lights out but good enough.
