In this case, one resident committed a crime, and (outside of a few noted individuals) the rest either covered it up, protected the criminal, abused/mocked the victim, or enabled/ignored that behaviour.
Nobody is hanging the whole village. Just holding people accountable. I don’t believe anyone is suggesting the same punishment Aldrich got (years later, when he was actually caught after the org enabled him to reoffend).
This isn’t even an issue that’s relegated to the past. Another victim is taking the Blackhawks to trial in October.

We have a ton of young defenseman. Hopefully Seabrook can add to their development. He has a ton of experience. Came from a winning organization. Should be a good addition.

As one of the people trying to bully him for standing up and saying we shouldn’t forget the people that participated in and enabled that toxic culture, perhaps you should take a permanent break. I think it’s pretty clear why you take his comments so personally that you feel the need to lash out.

Who's lashing out? There's pretty much one primary poster in this thread antagonizing other posters and you're his sidekick.
People like you and Blaster86 are the reason why this world is becoming homophobic again because of unreasonable extreme views that you try to force on others. It's not a bad thing to have an open mind that others may not view the same things with the same extreme feelings and thoughts as you do. And they're not "bullies" if they don't.

Wow. What a ####ed up thing to say.
If you think that's turning people homophobic, you're truly delusional.

Raising the issue in a thread is fine. I think it has run its course and should probably be closed though. No one is changing minds and it is getting extra snippy.

Well not sure why it's wrong to say the truth.
See the shift in politics across the world---and right across the border in the US. Extreme views are being rejected wholeheartedly and now the world is going to the other extreme as a result.
Extremes are not beneficial to anyone. Need to have an open mind.

So, really, the problem is people like yourself who blame others for their emotions and reactions to things.
It’s Blaster’s fault for having an opinion that antagonized you (unless you would like to point to some other reason you started bullying him).
It’s Blaster’s and, apparently, my fault you’re more homophobic. This is because of an “extreme” opinion which you haven’t really clarified. But I’d like you too, since on its face it isn’t “the true” but an incredibly gross, homophobic thing to say itself. But I’ll keep an open mind and let you apologize and explain how saying someone having an opinion you don’t like made you or anyone else hate gay people more was not, actually, what you meant, by clearly explaining how homophobia is out fault.
And if you don’t mind, maybe explain how having an “open mind” involves accusing people you disagree with of the above, and labelling them as “special” or their opinions as “extreme,” “nonsense,” or “asinine.” Because that does not seem like someone with an open mind. Much like Jay’s post, it seems like someone who is projecting an awful lot of their own insecurities onto others.
You’ll notice that there are several instances of people disagreeing in this thread without devolving the conversation the way you have. So perhaps you’d like to explain what makes you unique and why you’re words/actions are actually someone else’s fault.

I’m sure Seabrook will bring a lot to the table. Also sure management would have done their homework before hiring him.

It seems you and Blaster don't live in the real world.
Both of you seem to think you have more information than Craig Conroy, Jarome Iginla and the rest of the Flames organization. You believe your opinion is the most valid one while the ones who point out the inaccuracy of your position are "bullies".
These are the facts and cannot be refuted by anyone:
Conroy, Iginla and the Flames organization have more information than anyone else on this board and are in the best position to make the decision of whether or not to hire Seabrook for this position.
The real question is whether you trust Conroy's judgement or not? Personally, I have complete faith that he did his due diligence and have complete faith that he made the right decision after weighing all of the information that he was presented with.
The inability to accept those facts leads me to the conclusion that you are incapable of having an open mind and are entrenched in an extreme opinion which is not really supported by pure fact but rather inconsistent secondary or third-party sources. You, Blaster, or anyone else on this board are not in a position to very categorically decide that this was the wrong decision and then berate and antagonize posters who don't share your view. Blaster has been very aggressive in his posts towards other posters.
AND lastly, it is part of my daily job to connect NGOs with sponsors and in my career, I have met a large spectrum of individuals. The ones that have the strongest views/positions are often the least researched/educated. These kind of people really do turn off companies and other individuals that want to contribute towards a good cause. I'm simply pointing out you two aren't the ones informed well enough to take the position you have taken so vehemently.
