Flames also have cap space to eat money from these teams over the cap and needing to make moves. Maybe a good year to weaponized cap space. SJ too.

What is the Leafs plan? I don’t see many available players that will improve the team. I think they may end up regretting this.

Marner was a scapegoat. He got a raw deal from the fans and media there.

Flames don’t need to worry about beating Vegas for a few years.

They have 1st in 27 and 28. Get both unprotected and take a contract back

Kolesar has no trade protection and makes $2.5

Pospisil and ras 50% rs has to be worth a bunch to them.

As long as they have contracts signed with healthy, active players, there's always a place on LTIR for one of them.

Had to be McDavid. My question is what is anyone’s plan to beat Fla and Vegas. Load them up for futures and ride this one out

They'll sign Boeser or Ehlers and cross their fingers

There are a few teams in no man’s land and have their 1st. I wonder if unexpected players could be moved

How do teams like Carolina tampa nyr Toronto Edmonton Dallas Colorado Winnipeg Washington respond? Seems like 2 teams having their way right now.

I hadn’t heard that but I did see it was mentioned in a summary. Seems strange to me, deferred comp plans are rather standard and seem to be something players would want.

It’s not all his fault but his name will be forever turning 3-100 point players into Huberdeau/Weegar/32nd overall/Roy

Considering the Leafs were gonna lose Marner for nothing they did well. Roy fills a need in their lineup. The Pacific gets tougher and the 2026 1st gets worse. Yay

Optimistically, Marner was always going to end up in Vegas but at least they lost Nik Roy this way. Not a lot of good news but I guess if you squint hard and look through rose coloured glasses you could find that tiny glimmer of positivity.

I just don't think he's worth that type of investment. Really good player, but if he's not going to be a catalyst to get you a ring, that's crazy money.

Like with Ras,

Why tf Vegas.

These guys gambling degenerates? The desert isn't exactly comfortable for 2/3 of the year.

A lot of teams with a lot of room, this year and next are bad years to leverage cap space, not going to be like a couple years ago for a while

Because they are in on moves like this and pull them off and ice competitive teams.

Plus players don’t live year round in the city they play in.

Toronto could use Kadri as they need offence.

If Toronto wants to have a shot at getting past the Panthers, they need Kadri.

This is a perfect storm to capitalize on Kadri’s value to the one team he would waive his NMC for.

Sadly, it’s just not the way the Flames operate.
