It's easier typically convenient at the draft because all the GM are at the same place and in the mood to make moves, but I wonder if that changes this year with the draft being decentralized.

I think they should. His value won't necessarily increase. Just get it over with and go into free agency knowing he's gone.

I can't help but be a little sad about this. Like I know it's probably for the best, but I've always liked Andersson

Agreed, I wouldn't be upset if he did decide to stay and was signed to a long-term deal. Especially as his personality is a big part of the Flames identity it seems.
But it seems like trading him for a good return is the best thing for the franchise, and likely for Razzy as well. Of course if we get a disappointing return, everyone will be rightfully frustrated. But if Ekblad re-signs soon, we should control the market with the #1 Dman available.

I feel like he never was the same player after the accident. He was one of my favorite Flames for years.

Vancouver is another that he might gamble on not needing to put on his list because they are not a great fit for the Flames to trade with right now and it is unlikely that the Flames will trade him to Edmonton or Vancouver.
I think Buffalo is definitely on the list but the other teams I am not so sure about. He might be okay with going to Ottawa since they are likely to go back to the playoffs. I think his personality can handle Canadian markets, as long as the team is competitive.
Buffalo, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Jose, Columbus, Seattle
X: Edmonton, Vancouver
San Jose and Chicago being on the list would be my worst case scenario for the upcoming draft.

I wonder if there’s a player in the league that has an NTC with Florida or Tampa on their no-trade list haha

Hard to say. I was surprised that Dadanov had Anaheim on his list. It was only a 10 team list apparently. I know Anaheim was rebuilding, but I would have thought that there would have at least one of the 20 remaining teams that also sucked and would be less desirable.

I imagine there are a few former Golden Knights that would not want to go back based on how they were ejected from the team. The video of Thompson finding out he had been traded while he was at a table for the team signing merch was pretty brutal.

I'm curious how frequently players adjust their lists. In general I presume players are open to going to California or Florida, Carolina, Dallas, etc. But how much does the team's current roster, recent success, where they'd maybe slot in the lineup (how much icetime or pp time they'd see)... I just think players lists could be more flexible than we think, but I also have no idea how often they can or do change them.

Seen a few things on Twitter that CLB is a team to watch leading into the draft. Sounds like they're going to be aggressive.
Maybe we land a Marchenko and a pick for Razz kind of deal.
I'd rather Marchenko over Sillinger.

Marchenko has more value than Andersson.
24 year old, 74 point forward

I believe a lot of the lists are updated annually.
You wouldn't want to give the player too much flexibility on the list, otherwise they would adjust the list in real time to block a trade.

Depends on how it is negotiated and written into the contract.
A player can negotiate that he has to provide a list within 24/48/72 hours of the team requesting the no trade list and the list is good for one week/month for example.
The most common way in the NHL is they provide a list every July 1st that covers the entire season.
And as we have seen, a player/agent failing to submit a no trade list to a team by the specified deadline can invalidate a no trade clause.

Mutual decision as I’ve been saying for a while now.

Then I would guess he gets traded before the draft for maximum flexibility. Jmo.

Love seeing everyone shoo Andersson out the door while also lamenting throwing away Bennett and Tkachuk.
Andersson has the fire that championship teams are looking for. I can understand that the Flames can’t really use the playoff type of player right now since they don’t (and shouldn’t) care about making the playoffs, but for the ####ty return (late first, roster filler, bad prospect, calling it now) that Craig will likely get for him I think extending would be more of a priority for me.

Who's Shoo'ing? There's reports that have stated he wants a fresh start. Are we supposed to be upset he doesn't want to be here? Just like Tkachuk wanted out? Or that Bennett deserved to be freed from the mess that was his tenure in CGY?
Rasmus isn't a victim here. He's moving on and so are the Flames. I have no personal attachment to Andersson so it isn't hard to move on from a player looking to leave the team I cheer for.

It is a good point. However, the situation is a bit different. Bennett and Tkachuk were mishandled in the organization and it happened while the team was relatively good. Had the team given Bennett a real chance to shine or had they signed Tkachuk to a monster contract right out of the gate instead of handing him a bridge contract then things would be very different for the Flames right now.
As it is now, the team is somewhere between a bubble team and a bottom feeder. Keeping Andersson would be good for mentoring up the young players but it likely keeps him from ever getting to chase for a cup (and he seems like the kind of guy who really wants to win a championship more than going for a big pay day).
If the Flames and Andersson are nowhere close on the dollar figures for his next contract then it makes sense to move him now so he can chase his championship and the Flames can focus on the retool/rebuild.

What about Andersson + 32OA for Jason Robertson and Dumba?
Stars clear up 7M in cap and solidify a great top 4 D. They add a 1st round pick as well. I feel like it is probably not enough for the Stars but not sure what the market is for Robertson.
