BTW - this is a player who I followed ever since his junior days and was a big fan of as early as last season.
The ONLY message he should have delivered was that he wasn't good enough and is looking to be better next season.

Let me guess, your favourite stat to look at is +/-?

TBQH, I have no problem what he said what he said about the 10% pro-tanking fans not real fans. That's his opinion and he is entitle to it. I'm sour on his performance this season not his personality, in fact, I love his personality.

I could get offended about Rasmus with his real fans comment but I just don't really care. He's out of here in a few months. Maybe by the deadline at most. I'm more interested in what the Flames can get in return.

The advanced metrics that I look at have him ranked dead last in actual results out of Flames dmen that played minimum 500 minutes this year out of 7 dmen.
Expected results? He moves from dead last to 5th out of 7 dmen.
+/- might be not a great stat but when its as negative as it was.... it does have value.

You can dismiss the +/- all you want but it is a tracked statistic. No it is not all that is used, but as a trend with his possession's metrics in the negative, and the high blocked shots, he was on the ice a lot defending and getting scored. The -38 was earned not bad luck.

I'd do a Bedard for Andersson + Panther's 2025 1st rounder. Hawks need D and Flames need a right shot center.

Did Rasmus finish with the green jacket of Commies Masters this year? He must have been real close.

I really want to see playoff Kadri with the young core next season. You could see how much he upped his game down the stretch, and I think he has another level for the playoffs.

Ya, it’s dumb to dismiss it entirely. It’s a puzzle piece, just like most stats.

To me, very high or very low +/- is earned, anything in between is just noise.

If he had emotional intelligence- he would have been delivering a message apologizing to the fans and teammates for his miserable season. Taking responsibility as a contributing factor to missing the playoffs. That's being a leader. That's honesty.
Media in this city let these players off the hook and don't ask the tough questions. A lot of media in this city spend most of their time being apologists for the franchise and the players. Now that's even more honesty. I'm not saying media should make their everyday relations/workplace awkward but that's what makes a courageous reporter. Andersson should be facing the tough questions and being called out for the pathetic season he had --- but he wasn't because he's a nice guy and he's been around for a long time and this city's media is soft.

And also matters the entire teams goal differential (well really even strength differential
While I don’t have that number in front of me the Flames were -13 goal difference on the season
Boston was -50 and Chicago was -70
One of the players in the top (bottom) of plus minus sticks out like a sore thumb

You can also see that players at th ebottom of that list are teams in the lottery. San Jose, Chicago, Nashivlle.
It's remarkable that we had a player playing those minutes and put up -38 and have us a point out.

The story of the day was his future with the club and the injury that was revealed. That was the stuff that the media rightly focused on.
"Rasmus you were pathetic this season and I think you owe the fans an apology. Your thoughts?"
Yeah that would have gone over well.
The media isn't there to serve your bitterness.

This player tanked the entire year. There's absolutely ZERO excuse for him to have been -38.
Weegar was +18 (played 24 mins a night) - that's a differential of 56....on a team with a -13 goal differential.
Every other Defender that played for the Flames this season was a -7 or better yet Andersson was given 24 mins a night.
There is no sensible explanation for this except that he was just downright awful.
