Yeah, Vladar is an .890 goalie at the NHL level. If the Flames are seriously about trying to make the playoffs you have to get an NHL calibre backup.

Number 1 goalie knows how momentum works and can make an elite save for a chance at a comeback when your team is getting momentum. Vladar has unfortunately let in goals at the worst moments. I don’t see flames getting anything for him at the deadline.

Rough night for Vladar, subjectively his play looks below replacement level. Cooley might actually give them a better chance to win. Which is a big leap, given how little track record he has at the NHL level.

Watching Wolf then Vladar. It’s really night and day. Wolf wastes little movement, precise, incredibly fast side to side, rarely ever goes down when he doesn’t need to, great positioning. Vladar relies too much on his size, flops around way too much, bad positioning. He’s regressed every year. It is amazing they have the same goalie coach lol

His positioning was bad on Vilardi's first.

And overall he just isn't killing plays by making clean saves. (Appleton goal)

Nothing is blatantly bad but allowing 5 on 23 is at least partially on him too, and I'm not feeling sorry for him.
