Not sure where he spent his summer, but this off-season it should be in Calgary.
Rasmus Andersson was able to turn it around. A high scoring prospect like Ryan Howse wasnt able to get his pro game together.

Howse is someone I've thought of in the past in comparison to Kerins. Hope he can pick it up!

Howse basically had one elite attribute (hands) and was awful at everything else (skating, hockey sense, conditioning) and also didn't really have a high passion for the game. He couldn't even find his game at the ECHL level. I never minded the pick because in those mid rounds there's nothing wrong with taking a crack at a guy with elite hands. But the other holes were just too massive to overcome.
Kerins has shown he is a quality pro. Just a case of if he's going to be one of those guys that sits on top of the AHL scoring list season after season, or if he can do it at the next level. But I also have no clue how the Flames view him internally. If they see him as a legit prospect or just a good pro to have on the minor league team.

For sure, the comparison for me was the two players’ situations- conditioning and what not.

Wranglers beat the Gulls, 4-3.
-Walker Duehr is named first star with 1g, and was even. The other two stars were Gulls. Duehr is tied for 6th in AHL scoring (3rd in goals) with 17gp/10g/7a/17pts,+5, 8 PIM.
-Kerins gets 2a and was even, moving him into a tie for first in AHL scoring (though his ppg is less than the 3 players below him) with 17gp/13g/6a/19pts,+13, 4 PIM. He's still first in goals, and tied for first in plus/minus.
-Pelletier gets 1g, 1a, and was +1, putting him in a tie for 4th in AHL scoring with 17gp/3g/15a/18pts,+8, 4 PIM.
-Cooley stops 16 of 19. 10-2-0-3, with a 1.63 GAA (2nd-overall), and a .947 SV% (2nd-overall).

It's interesting to note that Kerins has worn an "A" the past three games.
There was no mention of him on the press release when the Wranglers listed their leadership group.

Not the sort of honour they'd hand out to say, a slacker in the weight room...
Encouraging sign that he's bought into the program, and looked to for leadership.

Really, really rooting for Kerins! here. Would love to see him take the next step as a key piece in Calgary's prospect system.

If Kerins made it, it would almost be like found money.

Doesn't look like it's going to happen in North America for Nikolaev. Like Dmitry Zavgorodniy, I could see him being released from his contract and head back to Russia.

Is Kerins fast or quick enough for the NHL? I hear his skating isn't all that great.

He will ride out his ELC, Flames may qualify him, but he will be overseas next year, imo.

I did a little write up on the previous page, post #175. To me, his skating is around average, nothing special.

I had hope for him, and I know the scouts liked him too, but they don’t always make it unfortunately.

To add a little context to Sandman's excellent work
Rory! Kerins! is 22 years old
Vinnie Hinostroza - 30
Collin Graf - 22
Rocco Grimaldi - 31
Jakob Pelletier - 23
Walker Duehr - 27
Having 3 of the top 6 scorers in the AHL is great, but even better to have 3 of the top 4 under 30

Tucson seems to have the Wranglers' number.
I though maybe Ignatjew had a bad game Friday, but Cooley fared as poorly Saturday.
Something for the team to work on for the next matchup.

According to the AHL transactions page, the Wranglers have called up Nikolaev from the Rush.
Only played 2 games.
Wonder if that means the Flames plan to call up a center on the road trip.
