I feel Miromanov has a really good shot at being something also. The chance is all his.

Was he talking about the #28th? I assumed he was indirectly referring to the rumour about #5 and Demidov.

Breath of fresh air. Conroy is in year two and teams probably wish they have him.

Everyone should listen to Parekh’s interview with Steinberg.

His goal is to make the team out of camp.

Weegar-Parekh.

Lock it in.

I expect they give him 9 games and send him down. However, if he is a ready, I have no problem keeping him up since he will put butts in seats and this team will need that this year.

I’m still a bit stunned he’s ours.

If Anaheim could take Beckett Sennecke at 3, Chicago could’ve taken Zayne Parekh at 2 and said “we think this kid and Bedard will destroy worlds”.

Yakemchuk over Parekh will cost Staios his job in the end.

Like, the Calgary Flames don’t get players like this. Not since Jarome Iginla.

This kid has got something.

I would imagine Parekh plays for Team Canada at the next two World Juniors.

I think he was talking about Lindstrom or Demidov. Maybe they were talking about 7 and Tij was gone?

I’m tired of rushing top prospects. I certainly feel other than Tkachuk, Bennett could’ve used 1 year in the AHL and Monahan could’ve used 1 year in junior to absolutely dominate and refine his game.

Of course, this is hindsight.

No way should Parehk make the team as an 18 year old weak defensemen. Give him time to develop strength and his defensive game while continuing to dominate offensively.

A very good point. Any 18-year-old hockey player, unless he is built like Eric Lindros, can use some time to finish growing and put on muscle.

It’ll be interesting to see how strong he is - I think you’d want to give him a year in junior to fill out a little more, but I can easily envision him blowing their doors off in camp and Monahan’ing his way onto the roster.

And our blue line as currently constructed is like Belgium in 1913 - it’s barely defended. He doesn’t have to be better than many guys.

A lot of young soldiers died because they were thrown into Belgium in 1914. They weren't prepared for the kind of war they had to fight.

There's no hurry to put Parekh in the lineup.

I'm pretty stoked about our D cupboard. Parekh's drawn comparisons to Erik Karlsson. Brzustewicz has been called the Adam Fox of the OHL. Add in the defensive prospects we already have and it's one of the reasons for optimism for this team.

Not all of our D prospects are going to make it, but the more bullets in the chamber the better.

Bahl - Parekh
Grushnikov - Brzustewicz
Kuznetsov - Morin

Thats a pretty exciting U-23 group. Add in Poirier, Miromanov, Pachal, Solovyov and Jurmo...we're starting to see a pretty good and diverse group of defensemen in our system.

I can't see Parekh in the NHL next season under any circumstances. He has a lot to work on. I see another year of junior and some time in the AHL before he becomes a regular NHL player.

I love his confidence, but you need some defensive game before graduating to the NHL.

I'm not gonna say which way Parekhs training camp will go, but I trust that Conroy will let the players decide where they go with how they do on the ice.

I imagine he's going to get all of the preseason reps.
