I know they didn't show up on the scoresheet, but I thought they both played a solid game, especially Pospisil. He was dynamite.

Shock Pospisil didn’t get a chance with Sutter
Looks like his type

Younger, faster, more aggressive Brett Ritchie

Spoiler!

First game at the 'Dome in about 4 years, and what a great one it was! Super fun game from start to finish. Wife's first game ever and she had an absolute blast. Shoutout to Corey Sarich who gave her a wink as we checked out by the pre-game broadcast . And big shoutout to the couple who won the trip to Vegas on one of the goals during the Cowboys minute promo. The place absolutely erupted when that goal squeaked in. Never thought I'd ever see that happen, but what a great moment that was.

Wonderful to see Huberdeau finally break out. Possibly his best game as a Flames. Was a bit worried at the start when he was bumbling the puck and gave it away his first few shift. Crowd was jeering him ever so slightly. But great to see the place have his back when he scored. His post-game interview was great to see; pure elation and the weight of the world off his shoulders, if only for a night. Great to see the guy have a big night and the team rally around him. Hoping it opens the floodgates a bit for him.

Markstrom was solid all night and was great to see live. Solid rebound control and some really nice kick saves. Safe to say (for now) that he's back to form. The team played with pace and the Canucks looked tired. Happy to see dejected Canuck fans around us once the Flames took control.

Oh for sure. I am glad he didn't take that fight. Doesn't need any more concussions.

I am torn on wins though though. I just really don't want Lindholm on a 9+ contract

He was always injured. But I agree. He would have fit in well.

As a line? I recall them being together almost the entire season.
Good eye. That was the most common line that rookie season, which was formed in the second half. 38% of his icetime* was in that line.

He only played about 7% of that season with Backlund.

However, especially to start the season, he played a lot with fellow rookie Josh Jooris. He got Jooris a nice payday before the hockey world recognized how lucky he was to play with JG.

He should have - it would have been his 3rd goal of the season, too.

Backlund has always made whomever was on his line better, starting all the way back to the Bouma years. He may not be that flashy #1 centre that everyone drools over, but he has played incredibly hard minutes for almost his entire career against the opposing teams' best players, and been given a revolving door of rookies to play with, or players who aren't doing so well, and his line always ends up doing well. He always gets the job done and his line mates always improve playing with him.

I can't emphasize this better than this: James Neal basically made every single line he ever played on a black hole that year - but Backlund managed to keep his head above water. That was the most amazing stat I can pull out of my butt when it comes to Backlund. i still love him and I couldn't be happier that he is the captain. Keep Huberdeau with him for half the season, and then see where everyone is at.

Loved Huska's response. He is happy for Huberdeau but stressed that he has to find a way to bring that to the next game. Was good to see Huberdeau skating hard on the back check and getting involved in the play. Team was fast and restless at times with good crisp passing. The kids are playing a huge role in bringing more focus and energy. Having 4 balanced lines is solid for the Flames.

Markstrom is rocking a 2.66 GAA and a .906

Given the defensive woes exhibited in nearly all of his starts so far, dude is having a good season.

He looked a lot more composed and confident yesterday.
