He's the one that signed the $10.5M contract. He knew the expectations that would come with that. It's on him to live up to them.

He's not even close to a buy out candidate with that contract. Have you looked it up? He's a player you accept as part of a tear down/rebuild. Not even close to a buy out candidate.

We all want the Flames to better off at the end of the 2024 draft.
Yeah, there was pure mocking of anyone wanting a rebuild/retool by many last season and now the whole fanbase is basically on the same page, lol.

edit: Ah crap, is that F'n handgroen guy still posting here, cause I'm in for it, if so.

Everyone saying that Kadri was better, but who is that coasting back on the 3rd Stars goal, not even at the blueline when it is scored, it appears to be Kadri to me.

2 assists but still -1 (I know it's a terible stat), but that's a Mcavi stat line that we love to point out.

Kadri hasn’t been perfect but his game has definitely been better the last 3 or 4 games. I don’t see the need to nitpick him right now.

Over the 6 game losing streak Huberdeau has no goals, 1 secondary assist, and is -11 (per Darren Haynes). That is hideous. He is a buyout candidate in a few seasons and honestly if we’re gonna run a younger team I would be fine if he sat in the press box.

Heck of an effort by the team tonight, they certainly deserved a better result. It’s definitely the type of game and effort that can keep this team competitive going forward.

Should probably give Kadri some credit as well, he played probably the best game he played in quite some time. When he decides to play hard, he can be a force. That’s the enigma that is Nazem Kadri though. He’d probably be a great fit for a playoff contender because the games are always meaningful, which is when he plays his best hockey. Conversely, on a losing team, it kinda of brings out his worst side.

Big shout out to Connor Zary too. I don’t pay much attention to the Wranglers, so I haven’t seen him play much. But boy, his skating has improved big time. His game is a lot more polished with all the experience he has gained. He made a big impact tonight and I’m looking forward to seeing more of his game going forward. That end to end rush was something else, very Gaudreau-esque, which is something an element this team has been missing badly for a while now.

Sadly, his contract is virtually buyout proof with all the signing bonus money, there wouldn’t be much cap savings anyway. Just the cherry on top of that magnificent Huberdeau contract.

His confidence has been shot the second he arrived here, there’s really no more excuses for him. He was outshined badly by a kid playing in his first NHL game and was rightfully benched on the 6 on 5 in favor of said kid. Confidence or sans confidence, the one thing he can control is his effort and work ethic.

He’s already in the Huska’s doghouse because he’s been the weak link for the majority of the season. If he can’t out skill his way anymore like he did in Florida, then it’s time for him to put on the work boots, move his feet, get to the dirty areas of the game and win puck battles for a full 60 minutes.

We saw him do this the game after his agent Allan Walsh sent out that infamous tweet. He has it in him and he needs to bring it out on a consistent basis or else, he may soon find himself in the press box eating popcorn. It’s obvious Huska’s patience with him is on thin ice right now.

I bet Huberdeau is wishing Sutter is still the coach now.

They fired the wrong guy if the objective was to make the playoffs

Thats my secret. You gift me a named a jersey and that player is history is 3-6 months.

I think its part of being a Flames fan, you have to embrace the self-loathing and you just have to roll with it.

Being a Flames fan is, in itself, inherently unpleasant. Its really the suffering that brings us all together.
I got gifted my Backlund jersey and he’s still a Flame. Got my Iggy and Kipper jerseys after they retired obviously. I bought a Gaudreau jersey a few months before he decided to leave. Maybe you’re onto something

Kadri has 1 goal this season, he hasn't been good enough either.

I hope to see the Flames avoiding buyouts at all costs. Time to get ready to enjoy the long term contracts for the next 5 years minimum. If the Flames have any idea what they are doing a Huberdeau jersey should be a safe purchase in terms of how long he will be here, could end his career as one of the longest serving Flames. He should be able to pass TJ Brodie and get in the top 10 for all time games played by a Flame.

Even after last night's loss, MoneyPuck still has the Flames at 24.6% to make the playoffs.
Comparatively, San Jose is at 0.9% and Chicago is at 5%. They still have the Oilers at 68.7%.

For sure a few chances hitting posts or saved on the line by a skate.

But man we have so much open ice to work with which goes wasted.

Just useless slappers right into the goalie. Not only that they settle the puck and slap it so the goalie is allowed to square up.

Frustrating to watch. Like make a play guys are open you have so much ice and the best option you find is giving it to the goalie to freeze.

Coronado is also really good at creating his own shot. What a waste on the 4th line and Hunt on the Backlund line.

Coaching blunders like that would normally get coaches fired.
