He just sucks.

Not sure how you roll Vladar into the mix now after sitting for so long. They are digging themselves a hole.

We have 15 overtime loses. We don’t win a tie breaker with any team.

Wow.

What are you going on about? I haven't seen any talk of two games against the Jets - lots of people calling it a 4 pointer. And one person confused head to head for back to back. But that's it. The rest is on you - you were confused. That doesn't mean the whole board was.

The difference in OT seems to be that our “best” players are given more open space to make plays and they don’t make them while the other team’s do.
This team lost it’s OT stars in the summer. It’s not built for 3 on 3 OT. Just not enough skill for it. The Flames are a 5 on 5 grind it out team because those were the cards they were dealt when gaudreau and Tkachuk walked.
Huberdeau and Kadri are not spotlight guys. They are supporting players. It becomes glaringly obvious when they are on the ice in OT.
The big problem this organization is going to face is they are paying them as spotlight guys.

Except the best OT player last season is on this team in Huberdeau. Also one of the best OT players over the last few years. Not doing it here but hard to say if it’s on him or the system we employ.

One glass half full approach to this you don't hear often... If the Flames don't get to Overtime those games and lose in regulation we're already done in this playoff race.

Don't get all the "this is the final nail in the coffin" talk. Same spot we were yesterday just one less game to make it up so it's slightly harder. It ain't over till its over.

He made several great forechecking plays all night.
.I don't know what else to say. No it's not been great for him. But let's not act like he isn't doing anything. In fact he's doing a lot of good with no reward.
I think you can lump his season into the cursed season that has been Calgary all year. Too many posts, too many 1 goal losses, bad in OT. And no puckluck for Huberdeau.
It's all the same thing. And he's not the primary cause of it.
|
lol this is what we’ve been reduced to with Huberdeau, we have to reach this hard and get excited about an almost nice pass and forechecking. I don’t even blame the poster because I also reach hard to convince myself that Hubie is not bad, but let’s face it…he is no game changer. Hell even Kadri, who’s also been a massive disappointment, has at least had a few games, maybe two, where he put the team on his back and looked like the best player on the ice for us. Hubie hasn’t had a single one, even the games where he’s put up points, he doesn’t look like a game changer, his passes just went through.
The worst part about paying this guy 10.5M is that he’s not a goal scorer. You never once see him even try to take the puck and score a goal. How often have we seen him get the puck in a prime position to go on a rush or shoot but instead he circles back and looks for a pass. Like man TAKE THE EFFIN PUCK AND GO FOR A SKATE! It’s like he has no confidence to do that, always circling back and looking for a pass. It’s beyond frustrating man. I hope he finds his confidence for next season (or even sooner) or else this signing will show up on worst signing ever lists.

Should have called up Wolf earlier in the season when it would have made a difference. Too late now. Markstrom was terrible again and the team has no game breakers other than Toffoli once in awhile. I wish I had the answers but I think management and coaches top to bottom need to go. Scorched earth and run it back next year. Can't trade all the players anyways.

Getting tired of Markstrom's stick smashing routine. Especially over something that is borderline interference. Teammates can't be thrilled with it.

It would get old. I could see it every once in a while in a heated game. But not as a routine.

It's not the same spot. The Jets gained a point on Calgary.
But regardless, I don't think the nail is in until Calgary loses to Winnipeg or Nashville.

Let put it this way, to some people he is fine as long as he didn’t stop what he wasn’t supposed to stop…i.e rebounds, deflections, etc
Good goalie stops difficult shots…

Funny thing is we are tied in RW with Nashville. Sure they are some games in hand, but it is possible that we could still get the tie breaker with them. Sadly though, the teams we are chasing, there is likely no way to make up the gap of 4 to 5 RW in the final 12 or 13 games.

He did stop difficult shots. A bunch of fantastic saves. Millen commented on it a lot. He kept them alive earlier in OT, for example (name a tough shot Oettinger faced in OT). And he did have a legit beef on the OT goal.

Funny thing is, a win yesterday and both Dallas and Calgary would have been at 14.
They are the one team we should have had a good chance in OT against.
