No, but your tone made it sound like you weren't surprised because he sucks or something.

He was great in OT, full stop. A 2-on-0 in OT against the best team in hockey, he had no chance. So many times this season to post something negative about the guy, tonight was not one of them.

Everybody including the lone Dman back knew he was passing. Simple little step up to take the pass away - about as easy as it gets. Gotta take that shot. He himself acknowledges it a deficiency in his game.

The Flames lose because they have guys that can’t perform under pressure

Hanifin is an example. Markstrom is another one but tonight he wasn’t bad.

To be blunt, they are losers

This team isnt bad because Mercury is in retrograde or some nonsense, and its not just 'some luck' away from success.

They are where they are as a direct result of who they are.
I actually agree. This game to me just showed the lack of finishing this team has. Ullmark is world class, he's gonna win the Vezina, but no other team in the league that's scored 3 or more goals against him this year had to take 57 shots just to get 3 pucks past him. This need needs better finishers point blank and simple

It's crazy that they refuse to change up these lines.

1 loss to the Oilers after winning 5 in a row to start the season, and the blender is brought out. Couldn't get back on the track after that all season.

Dube is young enough you keep him. He plays well under Sutter.

The goaltending shouldn't be this bad but it just is.

The bad finishing shouldnt be this bad either, they have talent and generate just as much quality in high danger areas as last year.

Just one of those seasons and it hurts because it truly feels like a wasted opportunity.
All the hyperbole basically boils down to two nhl goalies weren’t able to save above 0.900% this year under a Derryl Sutter system. Either D Sutters systems give up grade A chances on 1:2 shots or D the goalies just aren’t good enough for this year. I honestly think it’s a bit of both problems

Never. Flames fans don't do that. That's an Edmonton thing.

His selfishness and inability to use his teammates is infuriating
He atleast to me appears to be the least committed player on this roster in terms of playing the system

He is far more of a concern for me than Huberdeau is.
Amazing how different it is watching a player every game.

I think he can be very useful on a good team in the right role. On a team that struggles to score he is increasingly becoming a one man show.

But honestly he and the rest of the skaters played well enough to win this one, despite some of the obvious shortcomings.

Right? He routinely gets criticized for not focusing on the shooter on 2 on 1s and now he’s overcommitting to them?

He actually got a toe on that shot I think.

Did Ullmark overcommit on Huberdeau’s goal?

Nope. Teams have unlucky seasons. It happens in hockey every year.

Last year it was Seattle. Couldn't score or get a save to save their lives. But the underlying stats were great and they rebounded this year.

It was actually the Flames from 20-21 to 21-22. Didnt have skill, couldnt get a save in the 20-21 season - but the underlying stats were there. The next year rhe save and shooting percentage rebounded and they won the division.

They team lacks some finishing talent but if you dont think luck plays a role here too youd be wrong.

Happens every single season in the NHL.

Crikey. That's a little over the top.

Rough year, but a lot of it is just bad luck. And goaltending.

I second everyone talking about luck this year. Brutal luck. Outplay Oilers for most of the game, McDavid gets one shot one goal on pp. outplay bruins, bruins get an easy tying goal because of the dube sad collision, up two goals in the third against vegas and vegas gets two flukey goals with Anderson hitting the post just before OT.

This season has been the opposite of 2015 when we had all the puckluck. Not this year.

I generally think the Flames don’t finish well, but tonight they had great attempts and Ullmark was just lights out good.

I WANTED us to lose. I want us to lose the next game, too. That way, our GM won't get the false idea that this team actually has a chance. Sell sell sell!
