The Flames have won 45% of their games this year but are somehow going to win 65% of the remaining 23. I can appreciate the optimism but that kind of drastic change is highly unlikely.
I've slammed Sutter all year but not challenging that 3rd goal was the right call in my opinion. Did we really expect the refs to take that one off the board? In Vegas, to tie the game, late stages of the 3rd, after such an obvious BS call on WD to "game manage" the Knights back into the game in the 2nd, no way that was being reversed. They would have been shorthanded for sure after that one.
Incredibly boneheaded play by Backlund in OT. He's been good as of late but the tendency of the vets to just do incredibly stupid things seems to be a common theme on this team.

Top 5 reasons the season, and the playoffs, are in jeopardy...
1) goaltending
2) the powerplay
3) erratic brain farts
4) Sutter's handling of the team, and the over-utilization of Lucic and the 4th line
5) the play of Huberdeau and Kadri (and keeping them together)
Edit: and all 5 apply tonight

I've never seen a team give up so many tying goals.
Some teams have that dawg in them. The Flames' dawg is on a farm upstate.

Can't help but hang these missed points on goaltending
I don't blame them for the hard goals, but there's always a soft one, and that's the difference right there
They've been relatively sheltered and can't do their part to secure two points on a consistent basis
Literally saving 90% which in itself is sub average for the NHL would be enough to make the difference
It's not a tall ask tbh

15-7-1. Sounds like game over. They can't win 2 in a row. Probably go 7-8-8.

He just won't make any damn changes.
Can't wait for Trelieving to be fired so new GM Sutter can prioritize getting Lucic signed before he goes to free agency this summer.

Look at it this way, they got 3 out of possible 4 points in back to back game.

Good to know.
Hey, at least you saved yourself a bunch of time and now you can do other things since you know how it turns out

So 23.8% of the time this calendar year our goalies have posted above a .900 save %. That is AWFUL!

Yep. 1-1-1 and the cycle continues.

Must win game and the Flames leading scorer played 15:32 seconds on a night where they had 8PP minutes.
He got Lucic up to 12:50 though, so that's good.
It isn't just that Lucic gets caved in on every shift, it's that he takes his extra 5 minutes a night away from players who can actually help win the games.

Yyyyyikes
This cannot go unaddressed
One position is easy to make changes to at least. The Flames should try

Neither goalie is the right choice and both are sucking hard this year. Can't keep giving the other team a bad goal a game. I think at this point you bring up Wolf and see what he can do. The team is in the playoffs with average goaltending, its not like Wolf would need to come up and play out of his mind. There isn't enough time to wait for Markstrom to figure it out, and Vladar doesn't seem ready or just isn't capable of being a starter.
If they aren't looking at addressing this goaltending issue, there's nothing that needs to be done at the deadline. The current goaltending isn't going to get them into the playoffs and will provide yet another year of mediocrity in Calgary Flames history. Plan to draft around 13-15. Hopefully we won't trade our 1st.

Flames have played 9 games in February. only one of those starts had an above .900% save percentage (Markstrom .913).

For sure but they are still my team and that will never change. Guy at the game tonight looked over at me after the second Vegas goal and asked if we had seen this before. Groundhog day bud, groundhog day.

They should be pulling up Wolf, and it shouldn’t be this difficult a decision or delayed. Every young player that’s come in has been better than veteran equivalents. At this point I’m legit not convinced that the Wranglers writ large might not be better than the Flames, honestly.

You have to look for solutions
Brad is way too passive for someone that pushed his chips in on the short term
Numbers-wise the goaltending is so prominently subpar that it should've forced their hand to make a change weeks ago
Trying markstrom that many times with the same result is ridiculous. He's toast. You don't need any more proof
Adjust to the reality of the situation and act accordingly.. but act
