Pretty cool moment in Quebec City.

Was at the international Pee Wee tournament and they announced Pelletier's first goal live. There was about 12,000 people there at the moment and he received a great reaction from the crowd. To boot, the team he represented at the tournament was currently playing.

Yes, I thought Huberdeau has been making nifty passes all season, but just not connecting (or the recipient loses it somehow).

He made a couple passes to Pelletier that looked nice too.

Just want to reiterate again today how cathartic that game was after the weeks of suffering through an inept system/group of players

Please do that more. Evidently, to a man, they each have it in them to be THAT effective

Could be a bad post with Seattle having an easy match today but they are falling too

Flames have head to heads with all these teams and they have head to heads with each other. It's simple, get the majority of your points and waltz into the playoffs. Everyone is going to lose to bad teams though. Wild lost to the Yotes 3 games ago

You now say everyone loses to bad teams but spent the first 3 months of the season talking about strength of schedule as a reason why Calgary wasn’t further ahead. Which is it?

Surprising performance but Buffalo had been off for some time. They will get back on track. Hopefully our team keeps this game as a motivational moment for themselves.

They dominated most of the game. I think it was the closest to a 60 minute performance to date. The two goals Buffalo had weren’t all that deserved. The Thompson snipe was nice but they weren’t playing that well before nor after.

Gilbert’s first was special to see with his family cheering like they did.

Pelts’ goal was beautiful. He’s a very responsible player. I don’t think he gets sent down again. He’s a very complete player. I see why we the scouting reports talked about his 200 ft game as much as they did. He does a lot of little things right game in game out. His finish was sorely needed.

That backlund line is playing lights out. Backlund for captain.

If not him then Tanev.

Good to see the team score for marky. Marky is a passionate guy and has been a solid pro for sometime. Sample size has to start regressing to the mean for that guy. Hopefully the pendulum has started swinging the other way.

Flames making it interesting. If they do make the playoffs at least overtime isn’t 3 v 3.

Keep it up fellas. And sign coronato

I mean these things are not mutually exclusive

all decent-good teams take bad losses to bottom dwellers. simultaneously, you're more likely to win vs. bad teams than good teams

You said they need to win every game against bad teams "just to stay in it"

It's both obviously...look at the Flames points percentage since December 1st vs. the start of the season

Maybe some context...I was responding to the resident troll who said they need to beat every bad team to stay in it which is obviously not true.

Oilers getting pumped by the Habs as we speak

Also somebody that bet me the Habs would be close to the playoffs probably shouldn't be talking much about well posts have aged lol

Won’t be taking too much from this game personally. Thought it was more so the Sabres shooting themselves in the foot all game long with some of the terrible choices they made away from the puck leading to copious amounts of odd man rushes and easy entries. We’ve seen games like this earlier in the season and they don’t last; doubt the Flames will get more of these types of games with the final push for the playoffs nearing.

But on the positive side, a few of the guys on the team definitely needed a game like this. Thought this was the type of game that really suited Huberdeau and Dube’s styles and they took full advantage of it. I think I’m even more convinced of the idea that Huberdeau hasn’t lost his instincts or forgotten how to play, more so it’s the style of hockey that I’ve been talking about that suits his game.

Flames end up with 96 points if they have the same winning percentage over the final 29 games as they have had since December 1st. If they do that and every other team maintains their current winning percentage over the entire season, the Flames will squeak into 8th place by one point and get to face the Stars. If the Flames are unlucky and the Wild are marginally better down the stretch than they have been in the first 52 games they will have to play better.

Bottom line is they have to stop losing to bottom feeders and take advantage of the 4 point games.

Basically get out of their own way.
