Maybe someone that watches the Wranglers more can comment, but I would've thought Jones or Schwit would've been further ahead for a call. Don't they both project as 4th liners too?

I'm curious about how Pelletier looks in practice. I'm not sure if they have had a chance to skate yet, but Pelletier really struggled against NHLers in his first year and wasn't a standout in camp, so it could be that he needs more prep time than Duehr who is older and bigger.

Another reason may be that Pelletier could use the first game to watch St. Louis from above with a coach and see how they play and ask questions. Maybe even to watch Huberdeau and Kadri to scope out them or other potential linemates.

Hopefully we see him in the rematch.

I called up Pelletier on NHL23 and scored a goal with him in his first game. Hopefully I manifested that into reality

Iirc he took about 10 or so games to adjust to the AHL. I don't know if I'd call any preseason games the adjustment for the NHL but this is a good chance to start knocking over those 10 games

Nah Pelletier was just off at the start of the year, he looked bad in his first 4-5 AHL games too to start the year. He is not even close to the player that he showed in the camp

It's funny, if Darryl Sutter coached the 80-81 Chicago Blackhawks, would he have given a 22 year old, 5'10" Darryl Sutter who had 79pts in 88 AHL games a prominent roster spot on that team. I really doubt it.

No chance 64 year old Darryl Sutter plays 22 year old Darryl Sutter on a line with Dennis Savard and Tom Lysiak
maybe one of these undersized fellers would endear himself to the ol' coach by spending a year in Japan

So you're saying they play the exact same role and the only thing different is size?

If it were true that the Flames didn't play him because of how he looked in a practice than his 95 AHL games, then I would be very concerned with the coach and front offices ability to evaluate talent, so I hope that isn't the case.

The AHL isn’t the NHL.

As much as coaches say otherwise, the NHL has to be a developmental league to an extent if you ever want to integrate young guys with no experience.

It is. For players who hack it.

I'm starting to be concerned about how this situation with Sutter not playing Pelletier could affect Coronato's decision to sign. At this point, there's no evidence that Coronato won't sign, but if for some reason he chooses not to sign like Fox, I think it will be fair to look back at Sutter's refusal to play Pelletier after two great AHL seasons and ask if that influenced Coronato's choice.

If I were Coronato's camp I would be doing absolutely everything to work a trade of his rights. I would want nothing to do with the Calgary Flames, especially with Darryl Sutter involved in the decision making. Sutter being with the team would be costing him money.
