2nd rounders have been burning a hole in Kenny’s pocket so I assume he would want an extra to add a piece at the deadline. The talk on Oilers radio is there is no way to put even a 21 man roster together that is cap compliant so either Fogele or Puljujarvi needs to go and they still need to sign McLeod.

More Oiler media saying they are out on Virtanen but have added Demers as a PTO and may offer one to Ritchie

It's funny they can't even ice a team after the Mike Smith BS and Keith retirement

I'm honestly surprised the Flames haven't signed Ritchie to a PTO. Sutter loved him.

They could use the muscle from time to time.

The Oilers can have Ritchie.

He's certainly replacement level, and not someone they needed to bring back, but man the guy got it done when it came to defensive play.

Not sure if he was play driving benefactor of linemates, right place right time, but his numbers were amazing last year in limited action.

1st for forwards in xGA60 at 2.08

Nothing bad happened when he was on the ice, which is ideal for a fourth liner yet ....

Actual goal splits? 4th worst!

He had the worst on ice save percentage on the team, with Calgary goaltenders struggling when he was on the ice.

Classic example of a guy that falls through the cracks when it comes to play driving stats? Did he do things that created chances in ways that that stats missed making the goaltenders struggle?

Yeah, I remember seeing Ritchie's analytics last year and being blown away, but I feel pretty confident that they'll go down as an outlier when everything is said and done.

I'm perfectly content seeing him move on.

Also be prepared now for lots of chatter from Edmonton media how "Virtanen had several options but chose the Oilers".

the Oilers are absolute villains and most local media would scold their team for employing both Kane and Virtanen.

Imagine cheering for them.

Bit of an odd choice but speaks to the lack of options for Jake. Even if he impresses the Oilers by getting in bar fights, abusing women and being a general d-bag, they don't have even a single penny to pay him as they are already over the cap even with Old Man Smith and Klefbom on LTIR.

They need to run with a shortened roster or trade someone not on league minimum to even be cap compliant. You would think if Jake had a single other option they would be picking that over the "come to the worst place on the planet and play great but we probably can't sign you anyway" deal
