My FIL is a big Leafs fan so he's been indoctrinating our older child, so this certainly makes it easier that he is a fan of both the Leafs and Flames (to the extent a 4 year old is a "fan" of a hockey team at all, of course).

It isn't homerism. He won a Norris, has played 1,000 games, and was a team captain for a few years.

He will (rightly) get some consideration.

The difference being though, that IF Gio were to make the HOF, it would be on his own merit. Not for riding the coattails of his teammates and successful people that he leeched himself to.
