I want the Aves to win the cup so any player that needs a contract, gets paid. Eventually Some of their contracts will come ups and they will be in cap hell.

They still have guys like Krebs, Glass, Dugan, and Cormier coming up. Not completely barren in the cupboard. Can't argue with the success the franchise has had in such a short time frame.

Just watched this this morning... I have to say, what Reaves did to earn those 9 minutes of penalties appeared considerably less bad than what Tom Wilson did against the NYR. So... no suspension, right?

Kneeling on someone's face is a lot worse than wrestling IMO.

Judging by the language, he might get off light.
Roughing/Unsportsmanlike as opposed to intent to injure.
What an egregious display by Reaves. He deserves more than Kadri got in my opinion. His actions were way outside the normal course of play and he's a repeat offender.

Just happy Treliving never picked up Lehner - he never looked good last year and looked like a sieve down on his knees all night long. I'd still say Vegas in 6 o 7. Avs definitely looked to be a well rested team after that long break. Vegas will come out hitting and faster the next few games and with Fleury in net. This will be the best series of the playoffs.

Yeah its hard to see on the replay but the refs obviously saw it...they were also telling him to get off of him.

Score also factors in. Game was over and he was just out there being a goon

And this is the difference between CM and NK, is NK elevates his game, CM carries the same game into the playoffs.

That's a huge difference.

I have been thinking much the same thing about Lehner for a while now. And given how reluctant NHL GMs have seemingly been to acquire and pay this guy long term, it sure does not give me any confidence at all in our ability as fans to properly evaluate the goaltending position from the other side of the television screen, or from the stands.

That is not all of it. MacKinnon plays a type of game that is hugely effective in the playoffs that McDavid never has. Like I said above, McDavid is bar-none the best player in the world on the rush, and he is the best one-on-one player in the NHL. But the thing is, while MacKinnon may not be quite as good at playing this way, he is damn-well nearly as good—he can basiclally do the same things Mchobo does on the rush. Then add to that the fact that he can cycle better than anyone, he can protect the puck better than anyone, he can find "soft" spots on the ice better than anyone, and he can and will run people over and outmuscle opposing players to do what he wants to do with the puck all night long. McDavid just doesn't do any of these things nearly as well as MacKinnon, and I don't believe it is purely a product of will.

The narrative that McDavid is lightyears better than MacKinnon on the rush is simply false. That is McDavid's go-to maneuver so we see it all the time. MacK can just as easily burn people on the rush, but he's also got tons of other tools he uses to create offense.

MacKinnon's playoff numbers are insane compared to McDavid's. That should tell you enough about the two players. And it's not like MacK has pedestrian numbers in the regular season either: he's 1.3ppg compared to McDavid's 1.5 over the last four seasons.

I think Mackinnon also has the superior shot and IQ.

Mackinnon has 37 pms which is high for a top line player, but not a surprise given his style, so that's acceptable. Landeskog and Rantanen have similar numbers. But McDavid has 20 minutes playing a non-aggressive style, more than, for example, Scheifele, Aho, Barkov, Huberdeau, Panarin, Pasternak, etc. I'd bet they are lazy penalties.

+/- is a lousy stat but McDavid has 40 more points than Mackinnon and an almost identical +/-, which is funny.

Two games for Reaves.

What the hell, what a joke. The refs on the ice had it right, was an intent to injure. Not a hockey play in any sense. Way too light of suspension.

Ridiculous suspension from the offices of a bush league.

His gloves didn’t come off because he used his knee.

Plus, getting hit by a gloved hand hurts more if you get the thumb.
