Apparently this is not a good thing. I've read this here on hot take central.

Leafs moving Tavares up to the first line with Matthews and Marner. That will never work, no balance in the scoring putting all the good players on one line.

Muzzin literally breaking his own face so he doesn't have to face Chucky.

Tkachuk is going to start a fight early in this one.

You disagree it makes them a little easier to plan for?

The Leafs barely have to show up to win. The Flames need to play a perfect game. Would love a win but this team isn’t good enough.

I do, but for Calgary having Lindholm as a center (or more specifically not having Tkachuk with Backlund) makes us easier to plan for because we have only one scoring line 5 on 5. Getting back to the Leafs, I think it is hard to plan for any line that loaded

LOL - as opposed to having two lines to deal with?

The Oilers were much easier to deal with with Draisaitl and McDavid on one line.

Last year the Flames had the following averages for goals per game 5 on 5 for the top two lines

Gaudreau, Monahan, Lindholm -0.67 Goals per game
Tkachuk, Backlund, Mangiapane - 0.64 goals per game

Over an 82 game season the Flames were on pace for 108 goals even strength from their top two lines last year.

This year they have the following averages after tonight.

Lindholm, Tkachuk and Mangiapane - 0.58 Goals Per Game combined
Gaudreau, Monahan, Bennett, Simon, Leivo - 0.47 goals per game.

Over an 82 game schedule we are on pace for 85 even strength goals

So so guess LOL, I think that the line combo that produced at a much more prolific pace 5 on 5 may be the way to go. But we could take our lead from the Edmonton Oilers for sure.

Doesn’t mean long term it’s not a good idea, and we were talking about the leafs anyway. I’d rather check Tavares taking a pass from Matthews or Marner than Matthews Marner and then Tavares and Nylander.

This has likely been mentioned already, but loved seeing Tkachuk jumping up and down with joy when Monahan got the third goal. You just know this recent stretch has been weighing on him quite a bit.
