While it certainly looks to be that way, this season is his second lowest iCF/60. I think that speaks more to the fact that while the flames have been allowing few chances overall (minus last game), they've also been generating less maybe?

Thrice the puck went to Virt and either his position stopped the puck from going out or he failed to get the puck out himself. Prior to that faceoff Myers tried to rim the pucks out and it bounced back to him because it went of Jake.
So 1 puck clearing bounced off him. Second time the puck came to him he didn't bother battling to try to get it out and the last time he could have cleared and didn't.

Lucic actually has been pretty good this season. I still see people criticizing him but he actually has been pretty effective and usually puts in a decent effort for the most part. I like him and what he brings to the team.

Yes, his overpowering the Canucks in the high slot in a puck battle he had no business winning, and of course the board work...but just before that, Hughes heard the footsteps of Lucic coming and quickly and weakly threw the puck around the boards when it should've really gotten out.
As long as that line gets possession and on a roll, it is a good fit. Sam needs to think less and just do things, and a cycle or forecheck is ideal. Lucic can't physically do what he did before, so that cycle and forecheck works for his abilities, and Dube is just as aggressive and gets in the dirty areas.
No way that shift occurs or goal goes in with Backlund centering any of those 2 guys.
On Johnny’s shots
This season he’s averaging 2 shots a game but has a whopping 28.6 shooting percent. Last season he actually shot more at almost 3 per game but with a sub 9% shooting percentage.
But boy it seems like he’s shooting more so perhaps it’s that he’s taking more advantage of grade a chances whereas last season he wasn’t?
Gaudreau's individual 5v5 chances through 15 games have already been worth 2.84 expected goals.
Through 70 games last year, he generated 11.86 expected goals.
His 0.87 individual expected goals/60 this year is the highest rate of his career by a decent margin. He's taking great shots and he's doing so on a consistent basis.
