We really need to stop cross-checking Jets in the back. They might not be hard, but the Jets have clearly been instructed to sell it as much as possible. No need to take more penalties like that.

Well can't the players adjust? They are pros for sh*t sake. Why is it always the coach? Players have no minds of their own?

I'd argue, period 2 of game 1 was better.

Much better by the Flames - that’s the team I’ve expected.
Players providing puck support to each other instead of floating and hoping for low percentage cross-ice or through-traffic passes. Providing puck support requires work ethic and commitment which the Flames brought in the first.

You see what you want to see, in my opinion.

In the defensive zone you know what you do in the situation? Take the hit and fall on the puck. Battle for it. Don’t just let them take the puck because you’re scared, not in the playoffs. No way.

If you told me he was playing with two broken ribs I would believe it. Out him on the 4thnoine and move Ryan up to the first line. At least he can recover a puck and battle.

Better effort from what I have seen today than yesterday.
Flames need to take some.icetime away from Johnny somehow. Swap he and Dube? See if that sparks the other two top liners? Not that Lindholm needs a spark at all, but might be a good 5v5 thought.

If they don’t stick to the system, they don’t get played. What you’re suggesting is for the players to tune the coach out and do whatever they want.

If every player is doing it, it's likely because somebody is coaching them to do it.

Good to see that second line starting to get the puck in the offensive zone.
Gaudreau and monahan , no idea if the will be effective top line players in the playoffs. Lindholm has been the saving grace for that line.
Generally a good period aside from the brain fart on the ehlers breakaway.

If your playoff life and or career was on the line, would you not adjust to the game at hand? I guess I'm just stupid.

Just like the world's worst PP entry, I wonder if it's not so much the coach itself, and moreso the players are unwilling to go into the middle of the ice? This has been a problem for pretty much all this time the core's been together.

Big load of meh in the first. PP goal, decent on the defensive side and only a few bad turnovers. Offensively relatively dry 5 on 5, the big names outside of Lindholm are invisible.

I guess so, the same probably applies to you though.
This is where Johnny gets the puck. The left D is covered, and Rasmus is turning back into the corner to support Johnny wide open either for a pass directly into the corner or behind the net to Rasmus, and he has Monahan available with a short reverse off the boards, which he normally does all the time drawing the forechecker to him first. He also has fresh legs at this point, and could just speed behind the net and out the right side, which he does often as well to attack the offensive zone at top speed.
One forechecker on him, and instead of doing either safe pass he stops up and tries to stickhandle through the Jet forechecker so that he doesn't take contact, losing the puck.
Gaudreau is our most important forward in terms of creating offense and maintaining possession. IMO, Gaudreau tends to overhandle the puck when he's frustrated and makes bad decisions more often than not.

Ehlers reminds me a bit of Ville Nieminen. Such an annoying face.

It hasn't always been that way, Gaudreau used to dance through center, especially in his early years with us.
